So I have this sprite. (The first one I made that doesn't look crappy.) I'd like some suggestions on how to make him look not just good, but great.

This guy is a clumsy character who just wants to live a happy life in hard medieval times. For some reason, I thought his name should be Percival. :P

Is there a way to make his face look better?   I'd rather not leave a black bar for his mouth, give him those bug-eyes, and more of a nose. I had similar problems with my other sprite - which looks like a muppet.

hmmm... i tried editing this sprite but i can't make it any better than yours.
It DOES look pretty good, maybe you should keep it the way it is?

Only a few things you could do:

* He looks pretty sad, and if he is really as clumsy as you say, he should have a 'silly' expression.
* His arms are just slumped, maybe you could give them a bit of life?
*You are right, his nose needs to stand out a bit more.

I am by no stretch of the word a sprite expert (heck, I'm not even that good at it), but here are a few things that I see:

- His shoulders look like he's got them shrugged up around his ears.Ã,  This may have been the look you were going for, but I wanted to point it out if it wasn't
- The shading looks a little sporadic on the legs and shirt.Ã,  Maybe stick with shading just one side or area at a time

Overall, I think it's well on its way to being an awesome sprite!

I think his name should be Link ;)

You should align your side and front view. Especially the ears are much higher in the front view.

And you should definitely get rid of the speckled look. Look at how you shaded his belly in the front view, that's a good start.

The side view is good. But the front view.. Hmm.. Look at how your arms hang in a mirror. They should be further away from the body.
