I have decided to build a world map for my game No Magic Required, so that the player can move to certain key locations without having to walk there?

What do you guys think of my rough first attempt at one of these?

Any constructive critisism would be appreciated!

Thanks

P.S - Note the color loss in .jpg, sorry about that!

hmmm you could give the places a name and put them on the map  :)

Lol, what a coincidence!
I'm just doing that as you answered!

So, is this any better?
Or worse possibly?

P.S. - The text is easier to read when it isn't a .jpg, sorry about this!

Lose the blur. Or atleast 90% of it.

The location names don't however fit in in my opinion. It'd be better if a statusline or something displayed then when the mouse hovers, instead of text written on the ground all over.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

I agree about the hover over description, and its easy to do. As far as the map, a little more detail would be cool.

I disagree with the lot. As I remember the BG's your send here while ago, I think that the first map, without descriptions, was very good. Fits the atmosphere quite correct I might say

This game really lacks color. Its all brown, dark green and gray. Maybe you should try using some other colors in it.

Actually I think it creates a good atmosphere to use just some specific colors. It gives the game some personality.

Dont get me wrong. I think like that too but why exactly these dead looking deppresing colors?

Here we go again...  :(

No blur.
Toned, desaturated and more peaceful palette.

That's all you need.
