One set in my game is to be a medieval crypt of knights.
below you can see the first prototype:

The spaces to the left and right are to be filled with sarcophagi of the knights.

I kinda like the lighting and I want to try without adding further light sources (like torches).
But (even imagining the sarcophagi), it feels too... say, clinical. I want it to look cold and gloomy, and not too ornamental, but at the moment it's too simple for my taste.
I'd greatly appreciate any form of criticism!

- You could put sconces on the walls for torches, but they could be either empty or unlit.

That is pretty awesome, but do you could maybe use a different texture for the floor.

I agree with Custard, it's a tad too crisp clean...
Unless you add heaps of details, walking around in such a room would be quite boring, frankly...

Thank you guys! I tried some things you suggested, and here is the result:

or, with shadows (the shadow-relevant light source is where the moonlight hits the floor... Some kind of fake-radiosity):


As you can see, I have also added the sarcophagi and a cross.

and, to Andail: This room is not really meant for runnig around a lot. There will be an interaction with a ghost character and some puzzles with the sarcophagi (which I will render as close-up images). It is more meant to generate an atmosphere rather than draw the eye to details...

Much better. I really like the style but no so much the angle. I think it would look better a bit darker leaving the light the same brightness just making the shadows darker. Just be careful with the people. Many people make great backgrounds and ruin them in their games with crappy people, usually poser models.

For I intend to have characters in the following style:  ;D (can't grin wide enough)

Tis cuddly guy is a so-called Knubbel. (Yes, it's basically an aeroplane with eyes and feet. And he's wearing armor). I invented them very long ago and now I'll make 'em a computer game.
As you can imagine, most other locations are somewhat brighter.

I use 3dStudio Max in combination with Corel Photo-Paint.
