The song has been updated. Please check some of the responses to this thread...

Thank you.

Hi. The backing riff and the drum beat are not so much different time signatures ( both are four of the floor) but played at different tempos. Play with metronomes more, get in the groove of the beat and you'll see you're wildly off. The solo didn't really do anything for me either. solos are little songs in themselves, they must enter, lead somewhere and finish when the song is ready to go somewhere else. as this isn't a song really, I guess much of that is moot.

Thanks for the reply, you are most right. It was about 2am in the morning when I recorded that, so forgive me for that... ;)

Usually I should be able to record everything in correct tempo, I will do that tomorrow and let you know of the new version.

I am just in the process of learning to create and write solos and I've been writing/playing way better solos than this one.

I basically just tried out my new Ibanez RG guitar to see how it sounds when recording...

Helm

awesome, I'd like to hear a more properly synched version.

Nice start :) The end of the drumtrack is a bit dull IMO. Sure, it's a way of ending a song, just everything stopping like it hit a wall, but I'd have put in a cymbal, even only an open hi-hat hit.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

Diversity is divine!

Sorry for that. I just have no luck with hosting it seems.

Anyways, just wait till tomorrow and check it then.

Again, thanks for the interest!

Helm

the melody guitar over the riff goes one halfbeat off meter every second bar, making for weird synchopation that i'm pretty sure you didn't mean to be there. Your playing in the clean part is not steady enough. Practise with a metronome a lot. I'd suggest you don't loop metal riffs but play the repetitions yourself, to add some spice, some different voicings of the chords, more or less muting etc. The solo sounds better over the guitar riff this time around, and generally seems to resolve better. This isn't 'progressive rock' quite just yet though :P

:) Thanks, Helm. I know I'll have to keep working on the rhythm...

Don't know why I put 'Progresive Rock' in there, it was the style I was aiming for... :)

Thanks for the tips though, I'll return once I have something better!

Please visit my page and listen to the new track (or both of them if you haven't heard the first one yet).

I'm really sorry for triple-posting, but since I have a new song, that I'd like some critique and comments on and noone felt the need to reply yet, I was forced to do so.

Please go to http://www.soundclick.com/bands/3/jansimon_music.htm and tell me what you think of the songs ("The Inevitable Incident" is the newest one, we already talked about "Track 1" here, but if you have anything to say about any of those, feel free to do so).

Thanks.
