Hi there, my first post. my first image. what do you think.

aussie

I like it very much. Two things:

- The poster doesn't seem to fit in.
- I'm not particularly keen on the black lines that come off the black background.

Matter of opinion, I guess.

Otherwise excellent.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

yeah, your right with the poster, it comes from a photo, i have to change it...later.
i think i will use the image for an intor or something, in the game - when when when there will be a game - there will be no black lines

intermalte

It looks like you were looking through a hole behind the tv into the room. The shape of this hole should look more realistic.
If you just want to fade the room at the sides you should use a smooth fading instead of those black lines.
In comparison with the standing character the door is not high enough. The sitting character could sit more laid back. He's kind of sitting stiff on the edge of the sofa.
Those two pictures behind the sofa seem to be lost on the big wall - either you make them bigger or you add more of them.

I think the bg is quite good.
if your grandmother or any other member of your family should die whilst in the shelter, put them outside, but remember to tag them first for identification purposes

I think the poster would be ok if you removed the pixelly look. In my opinion, it just doesn't go with the "flat" colors you have everywhere else.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

wow - I'm surprised the black lines have been critted! I think they add loads of atmosphere and work tremendously well. My recommendation: leave them well alone :D

The one thing that did stick out to me is the gradient/shading on the door. Assuming the lightsource is the tv, it's a little bit off, and even forgiving that, I don't think it quite suits the rest of the style.

Apart from that, welcome to the community, and for a first bg, you've obviously put in some effort! Hope you enjoy your stay here :)

ok, some little changes, except the size of the door, i will change it later, i like the black lines too, so i think i wont change them

i made a new topic 'Re', sorry, can someone delete it

Al_Ninio

Ooh. I really like this.
One crit, though.
The door seems to be shaded a bit too... smoothly.
Doesn't really seem to fit the pixel-y look.

Other than that, good job! :D

Chicky

nice background, and style. but am i the only one who sees the resemblance with Evils sprites?

Also, keep teh black forground.

der.uwe

your right, body of the right one is from a sprite from evil, little modified.
punish me, please

Andail

Just be sure to make a proper crediting next time and there won't be any need for punishing.

If you wanna keep the black lines - if only to please mr Thomas - just be aware that if you're gonna have a walk-behind, drawing that mask will be quite a tedious task.

Apart from that, the perspective of the couch is a bit "steep", but it's not a big deal.

On the contrary, I think using the magic wand will probably yield it an easy enough task.

Scummbuddy

You've got an extreme amount of talent. And you showed that with this pic.

I, myself, don't particularly like the black lines, although, its great to get something new in artistic style, and perhaps could come out really well in the game. ( I do like how it works at the top of the image, not so much on the side.) I suppose I would want some kind of explanation for them, unless the style speaks for itself, which I'm not entirely sure this one does.  I'd love to see more, though.

Is that some kind of trashcan to the right of the couch? I can't tell what it is.

Please keep adding to this post with some new bgs!
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Dude, that's what they call a skateboard.  ::)

der.uwe

yeah the skateboard....
same time, same place, but....i dont know...........something is different.

Venus

Yeah right, something is different. Can't really find out what it is, but there definitely is something different  ;).
These bgs are great. I love the style. Btw, do you want to use them in a game? Because right now, I'm quite eager to find out what happened to those guys. Could be a great story imo. So even if you haven't thought of using this in a game, start right now!

Anyway, keep up the great work and please keep posting it in here for us all to enjoy!  ;D

DoorKnobHandle

Hey guys, I know what is different:

The skateboard has fallen over...

Venus

Oh you're right. That's it! Stupid me...  ;D

it would be great to make a game of this. at the moment my motivation is very high, but i know myself and it will fall. story would something like 2 dimensions, one guy is changing the place with a green guy, bla bla bla. stupid i know, but there was a time (i think it was 2 hours ago) i liked the idea.
sorry for my englisch.

@mamarulez: grüàŸ dich, grad gemerkt das du aus deutschland kommst

Venus

Ooooh, nothing wrong with that story imo. Of course it needs a little more detail, but it has great potential. I love it and I'd love to play that game, so why don't you just try to start. I think we will keep you motivated, because if you start this and then don't finish...  >:(
Nah, just joking, but you should really think about it imho.

Your English is quite alright btw. So you are from Germany as well. Ich auch! (me too!)
