Which of this 2 bg do you prefer?

This are my first bg with the computer. It is a slight attempt to do something similar to "The day of the tentacle" style.

This is for some of you who asked me that show some of my art.

I hope you like this backgrounds.  






I´ve added some textures to the second one, as you can notice... which do you preffer?

Textures are a big help in presentation. Go with the second.

Textures, if done like that, tend to cheapen the image somewhat. Have faith in your own abilities, and don't try to use magic tricks

I think the textures are subtle enough not to look cheap. They give it a little more character... So I like the second.

I go for the first one, just because i dont like textures so much... I also think that you took abit too radical way of dayofthetentacle!! You can reduce the angles of the objects abit, and still have that same style.

if you're new to drawing backgrounds, try going for a simple and realistic look before anything.
it takes a lot more than bad perspectives to imitate the DOTT style.

and i like the first one better, because the textures don't really match your "radical" use of thick, black straight lines and bright colors.

I'd say the one without textures is better. Now, just add some shading if you don't want it to be plain.

It's really a question of style, but if you want to go DOTT way, I'd recommend spending more time investigating DOTT screenshots. There's no outlines, lots of shading, and most importantly, DOTT has distorted but not completely random perspective.
