I'm not happy with the highlight on the ticket booth, though.
Oh, it's a ticket booth! That might be more obvious with a character inside, or when the player character gives it some scale. But like ildu:

Awesome deco on the poster and the fireplace :D.
...I thought it was a fireplace.

Please let me know if this is an improvement.
Oh, definitely.

Perhaps the ashcan could go outside next to the bench.
And the shadow under the awning could serve to blend the lighting differences between inside and outside. You could change the awning colour to facilitate that.
Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II

I think the problem with the booth is the depth. The lines look more like decoration then acutal shapes. I just added some highlights and I think it helps a bit.

Also, the blue boxes (posters?) on the right side of the image stand out too much to me.

I think it's clearly the size of the window. Although the char seems to be quite tiny in that bg, the window of the ticket booth should be bigger. And the metal bars don't help the matter. It just seems like something into which people would have to be stuffed. You could also have a banner to advertise the ticket booth, and perhaps a poster to advertise the price.

Thanks for the swift feedback guys. I don't have time to do an edit right now. When I dropped the Ravi character infront of the ticket window I felt that  it was about right scale wise.

You're right about a sign - my original sketch had one and I don't know what happened to it.

The posters on the right are too prominent, Evil. But I was planning to add shading along the lines you've suggested - I just haven't got round to it. thanks, that looks much nicer.

I'm re-thinking the shadows from the awning. As it is the awning is supposed to cover the wide doorway.

Thanks again. I'll post an update soon.

Ali

I think I'm pretty much finished with this one now:

It may not be perfect, but I think it works better now.

That looks awesome ali! (I must once again apologise on my part due to wow posts  :-\). The perspective works great.

I hope Nelly is coming along great! It looks like you are almost finished, I'm anxious to play a game in that amazing style you've designed.
