I've made my first real drawing in Photoshop using the tracing from a photo.  I'm not really satisfied with how the face looks, maybe someone have suggestions how to improve the picture?   ???

I would really like to hear all the comments and critics you have:

Seeing the original photo would definately help people with specific advice.  In the meantime, that dude (yes, I know he looks like a chick- he's just feminine) up there has a lovely tutorial on photo-tracing stuff:

I know. I've been using that guide but can't seem to get that perfect touch anyhow.     :-\

Wow, you've turned a Baywatch Babe into Worzel Gummidge.

Well, I don't need you to tell me that.    ::)

How can I change so the face looks better?

I'd say. Trace some lineart in a new layer. Delete the bottom layer. Fill in the lineart and then edit it using the photo only as a reference fro that point on...

But that's probably what you've been doing...

So could you maybe help re-do some of the stuff?

I stink at doing graphics... As you can see.   :-\

I made this from this photo, and I also "suck" at drawing.

I followed the same tutorial that you are trying to. Just keep it simple. It looks as if you tried to use some paintbrushes and such to paint it. Trace the important details with a 1 pixel-wide "pencil" at first, then fill them with color. Then use the Adjust Layer (Brightness/Contras) method to shade. Next, recolor and add other small details as you see fit.

After having a go at tracing it myself I think i have determined the source of your problem.

I think it's your shyness to draw small details, try a more detailed trace. And simplify it from there.

The problem is that it just takes an artist's eye to know what to draw and what to leave out.
This is particularly true when you're trying to trace a face, and moreso for a female face.
I think the more detail you put in the more likely it is to look ugly.

It's going to be a lot of trial and error for you, basically.

Can I see the result of what you did?

Well, my confidence in tracing is still somewhat bad like my drawing skills overall.

I'll just have to give it another go and hope for it to be better than.

The girl on the picture is my girlfriend by the way. I don't think she would be very happy if she saw what I draw this first time.   :o
