Alright, so this is it, it's for a game I'm in the process of actually creating (wow...didn't think that'd happen) which I'm not going to say much about right now, but I just wanted to see what you thought of it. It's all done in Adobe Photoshop Elements LE, and has 38 layers. It was sort of my test, you see, to see if I could actually do it, and it turned out much better that I expected. I used a lot of gradients/transparencies, and used the noise filter for the road/sidewalk. Let me know what you think of it.

Notes: There will be a "Help Wanted" sign on the door, as an object, a bum sitting against the alley wall of the tatoo parlor (spelled wrong on purpose), the missing "O" lying against the curb, and I think the sign on the post will be an object too, but I put it on anyway, just because I wasn't thinking.  Also, the red building will be brick.
Oh, and it looks grainy because it's a gif, and I can't post the good quality BMP here. If you want to see that version, click here.

I like the broken 'tato' sign"!

The only thing I'd note is that the projecton is off on the traffic light. The walls move away at at about 30 degrees (I'd estimate) from the vertical, while the lines of the sides of the traffic light are at about 50. They ought to be the same angle, or the traffic light won't look like it's lying on the road. I hope that makes sense.

Also, If you want a higher quality image, why not compress it to jpeg?

DinghyDog

Hey, thanks, I sort of noticed that too...looks a little strange. I'll see what I can do to change that.

It looks great.... A lot better than when I tried using photoshop. but from what little I learned about drawing, shouldn't the lines on the road be kind of slanting, to go with the perspective?

Er, you've got me. Meh. I'll get right on that.

AFTER I come home from school today. *shudders*

I think a good idea would be to train more on basic composition and perspective, before using all those gradients and filters...also using 38 layers sounds pretty...time consuming.
I think you're on the right track though

DinghyDog

Yeah, it was a little time consuming. It was sort of like, well, I might as well see what works and what doesn't, so that I know better next time...

Oh well. It was sort of a rough sketch tracing anyway.
