Mansion Background

after working from 7 o'clock until now (8:40) I finnally have this mansion BG done.

It looks pretty done to me but I would like to know what you guys think about it. Maybe something changed?
Pretty much everything on the image is picture based. The moon comes from google and the mansion is a paint edit from a picture I took. Only the background is totally myself.

Anyway, how do you like it?

Well.. As you said, it's only a paintover $:-\$ It looks nice and all, but how are you going to keep the style consistent, if you are painting over random pics â€ Â haâ€ Â fits in?

200x300 with a black border in the real BG. It's indeed a paintover but I changed to soo much, I think I can handle the rest.

The image is only 88x99. I certainly hope that this is just part of the background. Though it looks nice, I think perhaps the moon is too white...

I don't think he necessarily meant he didn't want C&C...he was just saying that he feels confident he can create a consistent style even with all his paintovers. (I think).

the limited colours and generally blocky, clear shades of the manor don't mix with the soft, smudgy moon. From the first moment something in the pic looked wrong to me, and after I while I noticed that it really was the aforementioned difference between background/foreground.

Apart from that, I like the manor, but I suggest you extend it a little to the left and/or right. The manor you show would make a nice "middle" for two stretching wings. A bit more detail would soften the contrast to the moon.

Thnx for the comments, especially ghost.

I tried to use very little colors for the image because I wanted to go for a 16 color game. Unfortunately I used to much colors and now it's set to 256, 8 bit colors.

I'm gonna re-do the moon. Make it more orange-ish and with more detail.

For all who didnt't get it: This is only a part of the BG (the mansion part)

and of course I want feedback and C&C

Next time you may want to differentiate between 'taking a picture' and 'taking a screenshot'.

And then again, "taking" a picture could either mean, you physically took a picture of a real life mansion, or you "took" a picture of a mansion off the internet, be it from a game, or a mansion.

I understood you as taking it from an internet picture, but whatever.

But at least you attempted to cite your sources from the beginning, but next time you may want to be more precise. Its always safer to do so.
