well, I like the layout, but it looks a little dull.
make it look less like a website, and it'll be awesome

i like the first one better than the second one, but just like he said, its a bit boring, maybe you should add a picture of the main character or something.
There is only 1 entertainer, the Q entertainer!

I basically agree with the others, it does look a bit empty.
A suggestion: think about the central theme of your game, or maybe an important object, and consider if that wouldn't make a good starting image.
To clarify what I'm getting at, see this thread here, the second image suggested by the poster.

Looks like they were made in flash.

My advice, get rid of gradiants, they do nothing for it at all but make it look amateurish. It's almost on the calibar of lenz flaer.

Draw!
Just making gradient rectangles with text looks extremely dull. Make a rectangle, then give it a shape, like soft of messy edges, then texture it. Not with gradient, of course. And then add text.
Some background will be needed too.

Do more than use the Paint Shop 8 Presets.  I own it too, and I know it seems as if you'll never use every preset, trust me, every image will look the same.

Shapes are great, don't get me wrong, build the image with shapes, then apply textures, patterns, lighting, scripts, etc.  The best part about PSP is you never run out of things to do with you're image.

I would say don't even bother with creating an image untill you've put you're pic through at least 75% of the filters.  Keep in mind that Paint Shop is less about drawing, and more about math.

I drew this image in a couple of hours beginning entirely with Paint Shop preset shapes.

Thank you everyone , think all go with number 2 ..

No offence, Candle (as I did not reply until AFTER your post) but what is the point of posting to the Critic's Lounge if you ignore the advice given?

The forum is not so much for asking what we like, but what you can do to improve your artwork.
That's like looking through a microscope at a bacterial culture and seeing a THOUSAND DANCING HAMSTERS!

Well i like to hear what others have to say , but the only one that has to be happy about it is me .  Right ..
I take the Bad and the good if there is any and do what  I feel is right .

I'd go with the 2nd one, it gives a more retro-action move kinda style, or a spacey Star-Trek kinda thing...er, JUST GO WIT #2, ALREADY!!111!!1, hehe

Candle... read Zor's signature.
You were given lot of good advice about getting better menu screen. I'd use it.

I would definetly put the name of the game somewhere on those.   I'm guessing this is for some sort of japanese game, because of the barely visible symbols in the background, but other than that I have no idea what the game is.  What's the point of having a title screen if there's no title? :-)

No not a title screen ,, MENU  ...

Ashen

The 3rd is definately the best so far, but if they're for ALKGN, they don't really fit with the screenshots you've got on your site, or the 'feel' I get about the game. Also, it could probably benefit from having the title on it somewhere like DragonRose said, even if it's not the title screen as such, just to fill out the blank space in the middle.

Hollister Man

Personally, the latter two are much nicer, IMO.

I like the palm trees best, though. :)

I think what Dragonrose meant is that even if it is a menu screen, it should still have the name on it somewhere.  ALL the classics I can remember except Beneath a Steel Sky (which has no menu at all), such as King's Quest, Pleurghburg, and DOTT, have a title screen (much like the title page of a book,) but they still state the name of the game or their game logo on the menu screen (much like the table of contents in a book.)

BTW: No sarcasm intended, but if you're the only one who has to be happy with it, why ask us at all?   :-\

The hollywood has the name on it .
But now I know what you mean about the title name ..
The normal users won't care what the menu looks like just as long as it works and the game does not crash their computer .
I ask just to see what some have to say .  funny if one says something most go along with it like a mob mentality .

DCillusion

I don't know which of the latter two I'd pick.  Sorry, but They're both excellent.

Thanks for taking the time to continue the standards of AGS!!!!!!

Keep it up.

Farsight

That looks good but in my opinion if you moved the Start, Load, Exit down a bit and moved the title up central on top of it, it might look better. I dont know.
Guess who's back??
