There is a game already where the nazis won WWII
and I think you have to go back in time or something and change it. Its called Red Hell I think...
BTW great pictures! I like the new ones too.

Darth Mandarb

Farlander - I had a few extra minutes ...

Not crazy about the pants or the boots ... but I think the head/face is pretty spot on.  You can use this if you want or not if you don't.  I just wanted to play around with some more sprite art.

Looks good Darth. He seems to be leaning a little to one side, though.

Darth Mandarb

Xad - I noticed he was leaning too ... perhaps he's drunk?

Here's another one I just whipped up.  It's a member of the US 101st Airborne.

Xadhoom

Yeah, that must be it...hehe.  ::)

That US trooper is really nice too. Are you using photoreference for these or are you just making them up?
.::XADHOOM::.

Darth Mandarb

For these two sprites I did use photo reference, because I wanted to get the uniforms accurate.  But sometimes I just like to create my own (though they don't usually look as good).

My sprite skills aren't quite up there yet.

Hi,

Couldn't stand looking at the funny muscles anymore.
Here's a possible revision. (Tattoo is compliments of Ed Norton in American History X, though rotated a bit)
Enjoy!

Darth Mandarb

Geoffkhan - I like what you've done ... I also like the original one too.

I decided to make mine a little more pixelly looking ...

My other ones were too big and too detailed I think.  These fit better with what you've done so far.

Geoffkhan, you should help me, not complicate my life making me take difficult decissions  ;D. That version of the big nazis is amazing... But I like also mine, so... I think I´ll us them both, as a new example of the dumb-smart couple. I have added a new character, He´s Goebbels...

As much as I paint, most I want to include the possibility to kill all the Nazi regime with a bomb  ;D

Darth... I like your sprites, but I want to paint the big fish by myself ;)

Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Thanks, and I totally understand you wanting to do the 'big fish'!

I Can't wait to see your version.

EDIT - I'm getting errors and a lot of the pix aren't showing up ... dammit!!  I want to see your new character(s)!!!!

Nacho

Mmm... Dunno why you the image can´t be seen... Geoffkahn´s can´t either... maybe Neole is tyred of leaving space for us  ;D

I can´t access to the free space from this server now... I don´t know what´s happening...

Farlander: Interesting idea for a dumb-smart couple. Which sprite is which?  :)

Neole

Server issue resolved. Quite an interesting collection of characters! Wonder how they'd fit into the puzzles.

Gregjazz

How about this version of Geobbels?

Hmmm...I'm having some problems with the big dumb nazis and your Goebbels. The forst soldiers and officers you drew were very realistic, both in proportions and style. These latest ones kinda look like they belong more in a Larry game or something. It doesn't have to be a problem, I would just advise you to try to keep at one, distinct style. Otherwise you could have some jarring.

Yes... I am realising that as much as I draw, much cartoony the characters are. That could be a problem, but I am now realising that there is a kind of pattern... The "good ones" are proportioned and realistic. The historical characters are cartoony because there is a real face that I must try to get, but there is another reason... I want that guys to look unproportioned and "dantesque", because they were all a bunch of bastards and I can´t make them a good memorial by accurate painting them. Look at Goebbles, his shoulders are down, he´s skinny and ugly, I like that  :D. So... the only problem is to draw the SS also cartoony. What do you think? Is it a good idea?

by the way, do you guys still think, that germany is a fascist-ruled country?

No, no... I don´t want to offense nobody with the game, that´s why I removed the jews form the storyline.

But, of course, I don´t want to offense German people. In fact, I think that including "honorable" Wehrmacht soldiers is somethink quite new. I´ve seen films (Stalingrad, Das Boot) where the human aspect of the soldiers is shown, but in many others (the major part) the german soldier is reduced to a simple "silly-killer-machine".

I want to make this clear. Nazis were all bastards. But Germany was not full of nazis (I don´t really believe that that 98,2% that nazis reached in a poll is a reliable data to have in mind...). I also believe that many years happened since that unfortunately facts and now the German nation has nothing to see with the nazi party.

BTW, please accept my apologies if I´ve offended somebody.

No of course not, don't worry. It's just that nazis make really good villains. And that's true no matter if the nazis in question happen to be german, american, danish or whatever. Please don't take it the wrong way, Crimson. If you got problems with it, I for one will take anything nazi related I've put up.

Farlander:Hmmmm...it's your call of course, but I would still go for an all-cartoony style or an all-"realistic", just for the sake of consistency.
