Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  This little creature here is what I call a Dwan. I made him up and now I want to enter into my game. I'd like a few small tips to help improve him.

X2

I looking for help on realistic shading and some coloring. Also, if there somthing that doesn't look natural please let me know so I can fix it.

The Ivy

Nice work!

I really like the way you did the colour gradients in the wings and stomach.  I'd like to see more attention paid to the creature's eyes, because right now they look empty.  Maybe pick a certain colour, add a highlight, and define some sort of eyelid.  I'd stay away from the black altogether.

A sprite like this, with so many colours, would probably be difficult to animate.  It might be easier to go with fewer colours but make the shading more distinct.  For example, pick only 3 or 4 shades of green for the body, with one to be a "highlight" colour.  Right now it looks like there's too much of the lightest green colour, and all your shading goes darker.

A "realistic" criticism is that the Dwan has no back leg.  From this angle we should be able to see it.

Once again, good sprite, and good luck with your game!

Well, I would say that the toes being all spread apart would be unnatural for a relaxed pose.

Also, is it possible to enlarge the wings? If those were to keep it afloat, then it would almost enter a stage of being comical. no offense.

I really like what you've done so far. His back leg should be more folded, and maybe some underneath of him, if he is sitting.
I would add some eyebrow muscles in the usual area.

If its a baby dragon, then, I guess, you can forget about what i said about the wings being too small
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Well, in a lot of cartoons and stuff dragons do have wings that are said to be to small in reality to make them fly even if they can (that's why in The Lord of the Rings movies, the Fellbeasts do have a wing span about three times longer than their bodies or something like that). But it might be as you said, Scummy, that it could be a baby dragon.

Scummbuddy

well, i said that if it is full size, the small wings would seem very cartoony, but i didnt want him to take offense to that if thats not what he wanted. Then I thought that, if its a baby, then it would be just fine.

Just one little correction: I'm a girl. It would just make more sense since a boy wouldn't generally call himself AllThatGlitters.Ã,  Ã, ;D Oh, and it's not a baby dragon it's full grown so I'll make the changes on the wings.

Scummbuddy

well we generally get all types here, but I did actually not see that that was your name, so I apologize, and welcome to the boards. We hope your stay is long, fun and rewarding.

I don't know the plot of your game but I find this thing is too sweet for the adult world , let alone for a dragon adult world...I don't mean I want to see the usual anger and flames etc (boring)but I, too, thought it was a baby. Even in children's cartoons, characters have something that tells us they are adults...But, like I said, I didn't look for the plot .

This is my new and improved Dwan.

I made wings look like they could carry the Dwan and made the eyes relistic.(thanks to khrismuc ;D) If there is anymore improvments that could be made on it, please let me know. In my game I think I will make it a baby Dwan snice that is what it mostly looks like.

I made an edit with slightly less bright green, added more shading, a mouth, and touched it up a bit.

I really like this character.  It reminds me of a grown up Spyro the Dragon.  You've done some good art here.  :)

Paper Carnival

It's great, but I don't like the colors. That's just me though :)
