Tips? Crits?

Neenie, we both know my criticisms are pretty lame, but..

1. His right side of face seems to extend too far out to the right, as if his got some kind pf growth next near his right eye/cheek.
2. His chin seems too pronounced, as if he'sa pushing his lower jaw forward, so that his lower set of teeth a further foward than his top set.
3. Not realy a decent comment, but the shading is just white, inking and the airbrush, which ,makes his left shoulder look kinda spacky. That's not a crit on actual artwork, I'm just saying that, well.. you should know how picky I am by now.

At least this time I didn't say "this picture makes my arm feel sad".

I think is good. You were coherent, in your comics style, and your drawing has dignity.
The only thing that bothered me: the eyes with the thick black border and bright iris, gives your portrait a "Siberian Husky" or evil creature look...

Apart from that, is really cool.

Edit: fixing some grammar mistakes.

It's a very nice sketch.  I'm not going to try to nitpick details because a sketch isn't meant to be perfect in the details.

He's got character, his eyes look a little unique...but it gives him character.  I think the pupils are a bit small and that makes them look slightly inhuman.

Keep it up

Al_Ninio

Thanks. :D

Here's a new one, sort of inspired by Tony Moore.

RyRayer

W00t. Another cool sketch. Keep making those. I like his haircut. :=

InCreator

Reminds me somehow Sims2 characters.
Ah yes, big eyes and biiig mouth.

You could still cut a bit from mouth (make it shorter), because it's nice (and cartoony) in static image, but such characters talking could look really weird.

The mouth is perfectly proportionate, according to Loomis. :P

But now that you mention it, he does sort of look like my sim. :o

Edit:

And here it is, rather sloppily inked (in Creature House Expression 3):

Andail

I made a very simple move-around-editing.

original:

edit:

* moved down mouth a lot
* moved down nose a little
* moved up ears somewhat

I don't like the lower face. The chin (or whatever) seems a bit odd, it's not equal at both sides. I hope you get what I mean. Or does it just seem so because the line at the very bottom isn't staright.

EDIT: Noticed that one ear is a bit lower than the other.
You got it!

Al_Ninio - its looking better, but you might try adding a few shiny hair lines extending beyond the current shiny section.

Andail - I think the nose was good where it was originally, it looks a little too low with your adjustment. Maybe meet halfway?

I also have a little "behind the scenes" information to inspire future crits: This guy is alleged to be quite emo.

Al_Ninio

Andail - I always seem to misplace those ears...
I prefer the original mouth, though. Thanks! :D

Oliver - I don't really get what you're saying about the chin, could you elaborate?

Here's a quick zombie-pirate-thingy, with really quick colouring. It's somewhat gory, so I'll just link to it: [Link]

Oliver

Forget about it. I think he is supposed to be like that.
Nevermind ;)

Anyway, why does he look so sad?  (I'm talking about the sketch you inked.)

...because the dude is emo, maybe? :P

Awesome sketches as usual, Ally. :D Andy's edits are also awesome. Oh, and it so looks like your Sims 2 character. The hair, anyway.

Aaaand...
NEW SKETCH!

Portrait of a random person from another forum:

Critiqueeeee.

Edit: oh, and about the inked guy...
He was indeed not supposed to be sad, if you look at the original sketch he is actually semi-smiling.
It's just some subtle details being lost in the inked version, like the curvy-ness of the mouth, and the right eye being half-hidden by hair...
I admit I didn't really spend too much time on the inked version. :P

stuh505

what can I say, I wish I had your talent and I wish you were drawing concept art for the characters in my game instead of me  ::)

Al_Ninio

Updation!

Odd, I noticed they always face the same direction...
I should flip the reference pictures sometimes. ._.

You're really good! You've got the talent, man! ;)
It's hard to say anything bad about these pictures.
Oh wait, he looks sad again. :P
