Singing when sick

I was home sick with a cold yesterday, and I found a microphone.Ã,  Being very, very bored, I hooked up the microphone and started singing. And you all have to suffer through it! Mwahahaha...

What I'd like to know is if this (or a version where I could actually breathe through my nose) would work well as background music for a dream sequence cutscene.Ã,  And any recommendations on recording would be awesome as well.Ã,  I've never done recording before.

Scuthber.t

I thought it sounded good.

As for recording tips It sounded a bit like you were speaking to close into the mic

downloading..

you should probably get a filter of some kind for your mic.. and get a deesser for cutting off high noises.. or send it to me and i'll process it for you.. i'm quite experienced in recording vocals.

i'll post again when i've heard it... ;)

Does sound like you have a cold, but your voice is very pleasant.

I can tell you have a cold, but you still sound great. It would definitely work in a dream sequence.

I don't know anything about recording, except what Synthetique already said about a pop filter on the mic.

You have a nice voice but it sounds like you're in a closet or something. Maybe if you add some reverb or something. Also I think I would like it better if you added some background accompaniment. Just suggestions though.

Very nice indeed, I can hear that you've got a cold but still you have a very nice voice. I played with the sound a bit and added some reverb and it really eliminates the flatness of the sound. Adding reverb gives it a sort of church-like feeling and the 'in the box' idea is gone. Sorry but I didn't save it, otherwise I would have posted a sample of it. I am pretty sure that after a little reworking this would work great with a dream sequence.

Some quick tips when recording:
-don't wear clothes that make noise.
-no chair that makes noise.
-put the mic on a steady surface and don't touch it during recording.
-try keeping the same distance between the mic and your face while singing.
-recording at night is better if you live in a busy area, you don't want cars honking in your song. :P
-try borrowing a good mic from someone.
-make a backup of the master recording.
-record in the best quality possible, this makes editing in post-processing easier.
-record as far away from your computer as possible as your powermonster generates noise aswell. If you're a real maniac you could put the computer close to the door to another room and put the mic in the next room then close the door when recording. Best to have someone else operate the computer then. Otherwise you might be singing your best tune for five minutes only to find out afterwards that something went wrong...

That's all I can think of right now

Good luck with your cold  ;)

Synthetique

wha!! no reverb needed for that! just add a nice EQ.. that should do it... (!!!)
most reverbs can't do anything else than add an echoing(ish) sound to it..
run it through an EQ and maybe add a little chorus effect..

modgeulator

Sound like you have a great voice there.
There's only one way to really improve the sound quality: buy a better microphone...
