Pilot in flight suit (now with a backdrop)

I don't get much practice drawing at this kind of resolution, so I thought I'd give it a go for my latest crazy project. Here we have, in all his low-res, 28 colour glory, a USAF pilot in a blue flight-suit. It seemed to be going fairly well to me, until I hit his face that is.

Much obliged for any and all comments!

I think you've got the general shape down, though the colors don't seem to really match an airforce pilot's uniform.  Taking some images from here as a reference, I made an edit.

1.  Adjusted the color of his suit to be more navy green and reshaded it.

2.  Redrew the face, making the hair much smaller since military haircuts are off the shoulder.

3.  Reduced the color count somewhat by removing indistinguishable skin shades.

4.  Brought the legs in the front view in one pixel each so the stance looked more military.

As I said, I think the anatomy is good, just pay attention to color count and shading and you should be fine.  Nice work!

I don't know but image googling did show me a blue uniform, maybe there are different uniforms.

Also, say hi to Mr. Ex-president. :=

But the uniform in that image is green? It even says so in the text: "sage green".

The green one *does* look nicer, I was basing it on my grandad's flight suit, which is why I went for blue. Maybe that's only for bombers or something. Shading's usually been something that's escaped my understanding, so it's good to get a second opinion on that!

His hair is a tad 'afro'
I think being in the military he would have a buzz cut or something really short.
Love lo-res stuff!

My mistake. :-[ But it did look blue with this crappy LCD at work, when I viewed it with my trustworthy CRT at home it did look more green.

Well, with a bit of tweaking, I've decided to settle for something closer to ProgZmax's green flight suit, and built some walkcycles out of it. Now I'm getting round to making backdrops fit with Mr Pilot...

Don't mind the pink dot, that's just the vanishing point. Usually when I've built backdrops, they've been very...blocky affairs, but I've been experimenting with a bit of anti-aliasing, hopefully not too much. Three things I think I definitely need pointers on, though...

1) Trying to make the privacy screen on the left look more like fabric, as I'm having difficulty visualising it at such a low res.

2) Trying to create the illusion of glass in the windows on the right, might opt for some "reflections" hanging on nothingness

3) The walls. Something about them doesn't quite seem right to me. They're supposed to be smooth walls, but they look almost *too* featureless somehow.

Much obliged for everyone's assistance!

Color of the screen is what makes it look, like, plasticy. You could make it semi-transparent or have there be a shadow cast through it when the character walks behind it. Shadows make it look convincing. The angle of it makes it look more out of place than the color. Looks like it's falling towards the screen.

And though the perspective is right, the weird angles of the walls bothers me. I'd place the vanishing point a bit higher so all of the lines move upwards.

I layered white over the windows and dropped the opacity to about 10ish. Then I added some lines to make glares around the edges. Not great, but somewhat convincing.

Made the blue more greenish to make it look more hospitally. I think that fixes the strangeness of the non-textured walls.

Evil's less-saturated version works much better visually, imo.  The layout of the room and the details are quite good, though!

The area beyond the doorway should give the impression that there is something beyond the room other than a void, so I made an edit and also added some aliasing and details here and there to help fill the room out a bit more.  I think some more medical posters, maybe a couple of those stands they use for IV's would help fill the room out.
