Another thing I'd like to point out is the flatness of the colors. There's no variation in coloring, and everything looks a little flat. If that's the intended style of the game, that's probably OK and it may even be interesting. Just pointing it out.

yes, i realize that too terran, well since this game 'greenback' will be its first debut, i just want to point out to users in the 'character's' room that he likes the color green..

i will add some odds and end for the room later, boy i hope it brighten and vary the colors a bit.. hehe,

i will keep that in mind for the next room.. thanks terran,

phew, hope can make a topic at 'game in progress' later, this one really need betatesters to try and comment it by lookin' n tryin' it from a closer look.. ;p

p.s:

as for tutorials, i barely standing on my both feet here.. hehe, i think ill learn more myself so you wont be dissapointed wit the tutoril.. hehe, just pm me for maybe i can give some useful help..

Matti

PLEASE change the tone of that green wallcolor, it's horrible in my opinion. And giving both walls different tones would be cool too, as mentioned before.

Monk

hmm.. green is that bad ya? very well i will give a couple shots with different colors for the wall before continue/releasing the game..

any color suggestions for the wall? thank you very much!

Matti

Well, green in general isn't too bad. The color of the chairs for example is okay. It's just the tone of that green color on the wall. It's too bright and annoying. Nevertheless I would try to give the walls a bright brown or a yellow color, just play around a bit and see what fits best.

Monk

okay matti... thanks alot, ill see what i can do, meanwhille this some things i've change

- the shadows
- add some colors
- still green tho.. :P

ill post the tweaked wall version soon...
much appreciate for the helps, i really need this, i want my first game to be satisfying..!

cheers

I think the flatness of the original colors worked better. This one doesn't seem as stylized, and I think that makes you more critical of individual aspects when looking at it.

I like the new shading, makes the walls look more dynamic.

Also don't try to worry too much about having too much green.  You're making your character have more unique attributes.  Whereas in most games you might sketch out a biographical profile stating their favorite color is this, and favorite food is that, and don't really end up using it in the game, your choice of his color choices makes for a more grounded character.  The character likes green alot so he's going to be doing alot of green in the personal choices he makes.

Personally I don't find anything wrong in your backgrounds.  It's more about style and preference.  Some people may prefer the older style (with the single shade of green for the walls with no deliniation), some the new.  I personally prefer that latest version because it shows where one wall stops and another starts.  Also I like the simple uses of colors, you're not trying to do shades and shades of stuff, it works well with your art style.

As far as the tutorial goes, they say the best way to learn is by teaching.  So if you start a tutorial, you'll probably learn things along the way, and if there's anything amiss I'm sure the more experienced artists would point you in the right direction.

thank you, uhfgood.. that surely calms me down a bit from worrying, hehe.. well i think im going to stick on the last version, only adding a little bit this and that..

so, at the end, i really want to thank you to all people who have help me here alot improving my drawings..

more power to you guys,

'cheers

Couple of things that struck me: first, I would lower the overall saturation a bit, I will be much more calming to the eye then. Second thing is the "do not cross" tapes, from this angle it's kind of hard to make out where the tapes are attached and this makes them look a bit weird. Also somehow the black on the tapes stand out. Thirdly the sofa frame seem to be blending to other objects especially on the parts that are "in the shadow". Maybe you could add a darker outline on the shadow areas.

Monk

noted zabnat, thanks! i do think so too, since there are alot of green there.. and the tape, yeah, that too.. thanks!

The shadows on the plates look SO much better and I love the red cloth on the shelf that the clock and photoframes sit on.

I also like the green. If thats the colour you chose then that is your choice and I like it, it goes well with the other colours, the whole style really.

Monk - could you posssibly do a tutorial on how you did your backgrounds?
I agree, I think you should as your style is an excellent one and people would like to learn from you. We are always looking for new styles to adopt and learn from in our own style developments.
