Can I just use a scanner?

I'm relatively new to AGS and adventure games in general, so I don't know much about this stuff and don't know where to find it. (But I DID read the instructions for AGS)

I was wondering if you could simply draw a background, character, hotspot or whatever, put it in a scanner, send it through paint (Or any other program like it) then put in into an AGS game? If so, about how much detail do you think you could put into a picture like that and still have it come out looking good in the game? I appreciate any help!

You can do whatever you want, as long as you get the images into AGS in some format it regocnises.

And pssst. this'd be in the Techincal Discussion, top of this forum, for future reference ;)
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure before I started drawing and had all that go to waste!

(I just saw a ton of stuff about pictures here; wasn't sure if this was the right place or not ( Me-->  ??? ))
