This is a character I'm working on right now.

It's basically just the outline at the moment. I'm going to add clothes and more texture to the none clothed parts.

I would love to get some feedback on this character.

Bubbles

good start, but the arms look a tad bit like tentacles.

Looks like Mulle The Maniac
Some say i need panels! and Some say i dont Need them.   WHERES THE DRUGS I'm going CRAZY. Plus I must have been on Drugs and a Maniac if i was going to name the game Maniacs Mansion.

What was i thinking!!!!!

Unhelpful IMO.

It looks good for a mere outline, I already like the expression of the face. You could make the shoulders broader and exaggerate muscles. Think He-Man toys  ;) Also, the hands could be bigger.
It's defenitely a good start, but I wouldn't go for that earthy orange (if that is the base colour you're about to use and not just concept); grey with lichen would be my suggestion. Right now it could be a golem, or it's probably me reading to much Pratchett...

Is this going to be a main character for a game of yours?

Mr Flibble

I'd say he might look more troll-like if he was hunched over, ie. leaning forward and not backwards.

And I do believe someone has been reading Pratchett! However I would suggest using less saturated colours to suggest more stone and less...clay?

Anyway, I like this. Nice competent linework, clean lines and that.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

I like him, nice neat linework.the colours are ok but they don't say TROLL to me.he seems too cute and cuddly in those colours to be a troll.I agree that he would look good in grey. His hands are a tad tentacle like but when you start shading him you could probably suggest some digets.Oh and I very much like the expression on his face.keep up the good work :).

This is a rushed job...

I tried to keep the big yet somehow good-natured overall pose, but with a bit more of manly (or troll-ly) machoism. Note the club. I tried to keep the colours low, and by lo, don't look at the feet. I suck when it comes to feet.Ã,  ;)

You might want to make all the body shapes a bit more angular, resembling stone.

Thanks for the comments so far.

I tried to change him a bit. I changed his colours, and altered his posture and arms a bit.

This IS a troll, but he's not a real 'macho' troll. He's still impressive, but compared to other trolls he's more friendly.

Before starting shading, and giving him some clothes, I thought I'd post the picture again, to see if someone can give me some more pointers.

Ghost

The colours look good now, and the hands have improved. It's a troll all right. The posture change is subtle, but noticeable. I would made the lines in the chest a bit less rounded; I just can smell someone posting they look like boobs... Stone is hard, rocks are associated with rocks, and while you may have a different kind of troll-race in your game, it's sometimes wise to serve some expectations.

Could you supply some more info on the character? That would possibly make it easier to go for a certain direction.

Still, looking good!

I'm not really working on a game right now, I'm more brainstorming about it. I'm thinking towards a kinda Steampunk setting.

This troll could be a mechanic for example.

First I gave him some pants. I tried to give him an overall but that didn't look good. (Maybe someone else can make it look good on him, but I didn't succeed.)

Than I gave him some very simple shading:

This is a bit of a sloppy paintover, but I think there are a couple of things that I've improved:

I've drawn a line through the centre of your troll, that illustrates how much he's leaning back. You can also try flipping your image horizontally while you work - it will accent any unbalanced parts.

You're shading lacks a light source. I've imagined that the light is coming from the top left and only added areas of shadow on the bottom-right edge of his volumes.

Finally, your troll was looking upwards, which doesn't seem right for a great big troll. So I straightened his brow.

Like Ghost, I'm not very happy with the feet I've drawn. Trolls' feet are hard to draw!

My final version:

For the moment this is my final edit of this troll. Thanks for all the comments and edits.

Very handy trick, flipping the image! It looked very weird when I flipped it.

I didn't follow all your changes, I wanted the troll to still be my image, instead of someone elses. But I learned quit a bit from both Ali's and Ghosts edit. Very usefull comments. Thanks!

Edit: I noticed I forgot to edit the clothes. Still fixing that. :)

Edit 2: Added shading to the pants.

Ghost

Looking good! I'm glad you managed to keep that expression even with the shading. It was what made the pic special to me.

Thanks, Ghost!

Now on to the next character.  ;D
