These two character are basically cartoon characters in a realistic world where toons are basically actors with minor inhuman traits.

I am a little happy with this girl but I am not happy with her shading, could you suggest where and what to shade?

This girl on the other hand, while I am happy with her basic design but there is room for improvement.

And if there is any advice for improvement please tell me, I like to have them look there best.

Could you post versions that are not artifacted?  I recommend BMP, GIF or PNG.

Edit:

These images are still heavily artifacted.  Artifacting is distortion to the images as a result of compression (in this case jpgs).  Do not save sprites in jpg format for this reason.

Also, BMP is fine as long as you just post a link to it, in case you have few options.

Kweepa

Don't try to post a BMP as the forums will reject it.
The characters seem very washed out. Before you repost, first fill the background with a more neutral colour such as RGB 58,119,32 - Dark Pea Green in Photoshop - and we'll have a better idea how they look.

Sounds like Who framed Roger Rabbit to me, that sort of style might make a good game.

I find animals with big b**bs highly disturbive... Can't you make these critters more cartoony? They look too human.

I was going for a human look to them, and about the boob thing. Besides being a furry at heart, I CAN'T DRAW SMALL BOOBS ^T\./T^.

I'm not sure which half of this sentence scares me more.

I must admit that little animal smiley at the end is pretty disturbing also. This isn't the first time I've encountered the furry obsession, and I just don't get it. Is it the result of parents over-sheltering their kids? During those fragile transition through puberty, surely you have access to something closer to porn than Disney movies? Or is it the bed full of endearingly marketable stuffed animals that triggers it?

Perhaps, just throwing it out there, an actual relationship (with a human) may substitute? I mean, from a scientific standpoint, isn't a little unnatural (not to mention counter-productive) to fantasize about another species?

I hope you don't live on a farm.

That's a furry smiley?Ã,  Pretty abstract, I would never have guessed...

Anyhoo, I agree with shrinking down the boobs (ignoring the fact that they are on animals, they are still disproportionately large).Ã,  I would also suggest drawing some horizontal lines across the character designs to make sure all the characters' features line up properly and are consistent.

Save the personal attacks/observations for another place, BB.  This is the Critics Lounge, not the 'OMG FURRYZ R WAK' forum.  Thanks.

As for the images, they are still suffering from artifacts that would make it difficult at best to provide useful edits, ginanubismon.  Please correct this by saving the original image as a gif or png file, not by saving the already distorted jpg as a gif or png file (this carries over the artifacts).  Perhaps then someone could provide a paintover to give you some ideas.

Ali

These characters are pretty strong, though I see two key problems with them.

The first is simply the disturbing size of the breasts. Shape is far more important than size when it comes to breasts and these characters look like they have jelly moulds* under their sweaters. If you do as ProgZmax suggests and post a version without arifacts I'm sure people will be able to help you with that.

The second, more significant problem is that they look basically like humans with animal heads and tails. If your game only featured animals that wouldn't be a problem, but If you're planning to have humans and toons co-exist then you'll struggle to create a distinction between the two.

I'd recommend you either re-think your concept, or redesign these characters with this in mind:

This is a very rough sketch of a human and his little squirrel friend. It's full of mistakes but it demonstrates a clear distinction between man and toon. Since I knew I wouldn't be able to draw a photo-realistic human I made his squirrel friend much more cartoony: Smaller with looser curvy lines, and crucially, no genitalia.

I hope that's useful.

I critiqued the concept behind the sprites. Not all crits are technical, you know. Thanks.

Is 'I hope you don't live on a farm?' critiquing a concept?  No.  Your post was insulting and inappropriate.  Back on task, please.

i used to be extremely obsessed with animals too until i found out that it was illegal.

Please keep critiques on task and relevant to the poster's intention!  I do not want to have to start pruning this thread so useful and helpful critiques can be offered.
