I'm gonna be stuck here for the next few days so it would be handy if I could figure this out.... okay here is the thing. I can't connect to Quakenet on this DAMN DAMN DAMN computer.

It gives this error:

Closing Link: dfgsdfgsd by blueyonder2.uk.quakenet.org (USER: Bad username)

This is no matter WHAT my user name is. And I can connect to every other server just fine.

Is Quakenet down or something? Or is it this damn computer!?

Inkoddi

It works just fine for me, it's probably just your computer or your ISP
toot

Squinky

It's working for me....

And man, we sure are having wacky good times...too bad you can't seem to get in...

Meowster

But...every other server in the existence of mankind and servers works fine.

In this case, "username" means your IRC login (not your nick) - in mIRC this tends to be the text before the @ in the e-mail address that you enter.

Just type in something like "jibble@nowhere.com" as your e-mail address, it can't argue with that.

Meowster

Now I am banned.

I don't even recall doing anything.

I don't even recall being in there in the first place to do anything.

What is this about, huh??? HUH?! Do you want to laugh at me behind my back? Is that it??!

I hope you are all having fun in there, while I'm out here in the freezing cold because get this; I don't care. You could all be dead for all I know. And I wish I knew. Because you probably are. And man, would I laugh!

Jesus.

OneThinkingGal and ._.

You're unbanned now Miss Moth.  ::)

And don't ever let me catch you doing that again.    >:(

Meowster

Just so everybody knows, I was not banned, per se, but instead, the victim of a cruel hoax!!!

Usually (and someone more knowledgable about IRC, correct me if I'm wrong) the Login ID (in the form of login@isp's addy) is usually automatically selected by mIRC.  If you're still getting that error, you could always try deleting the mIRC config ini and, perhaps, trying a different Quakenet server if that doesn't work.

I'm having the same problem. I believe it's your firewall.. As it is mine. Ever since I've switched to DSL, I haven't been able to connect through mirc. So either you have an internal firewall through your modem or router, or you're using Window's Firewall..

Find out that much.. If that's it, see if you can turn it off and just use Sygate or Zonealarm. If you can't.. There's CGI Mircs and stuff.

**now that I realise, you already solved it and this was senseless.
You. Me. Denny's.
