Now I respect the work of anti-consumerists (don't really care too much, myself, though), and adbusters are a pretty well-meaning bunch.  But canceling Christmas presents is a bit extreme, isn't it?

I got The Orange Box. Half Life and Portal are actively rocking my socks. Just finished the latter yesterday, actually. I loved the game so much that after I won, my 12-year-old brother and I were talking like sentry robots for the next hour or so.

Also: best game ending in recent memory.

The musical theatre geek in me was very happy to receive:

- The vocal score to Pacific Overtures.
- The soundtrack to the Sweeney Todd movie.
- Chicago on DVD.

A whole bunch of clothes, a couple of books, and one or two personal things, too.  My family have been very good to me   My GF's present is still in the post, so I don't know what she got me yet ...

I got some thrilling video equipment which is supposed to come with various Ulead tools but didn't. So I should do them for false advertising, as Ulead logos are all over the box! Got the Simpsons movie & Transformers movie, hadn't seen either but now I have - they're both really good! Got a nice book on funding films & stuff, 2gb memory stick. merry chrimbo!

Oh and of course chocolate...always chocolate

Ditto on the Frank Zappa, I'm apparently so difficult to shop for that I end up with at least one of his DVDs every Christmas, I've got two copies of the aforementioned title, and atleast three copies of Baby Snakes in the last few years.  Not that I mind too much, but I could do without another copy of 200 Motels.


Without derailing the topic too much, have an of you European Zappa fans gone to Zappanale in Germany before? I went in 2006 and hugged Adrian Belew after someone with a press pass managed to sneak me backstage (Beer is cheaper for the artists and I took full advantage of the fact that people mistook me for a member of Paul Green's School of Rock).

This was the first year in recent memory where most of the gifts were either monetary or gift card-ey 

- Chocolates and other sweets in my stocking
- My sister is buying one of my uni texts next week
- $100, which I used to get an 1gb clip mp3 player and various other stuffs.
- $50, which I added to the funds for my awesome trip to the UK I'm currently on


I got my mum Led Zeppelin Live "How the West was Won" 3 CD set, and for my sister I bought a $20 gift card to Hot Topic.
