I have.. Just got back, in fact. It was very very very weird, but had a aura about it that just draws you in and makes you like it..

The characters are interesting, but at some points not totally drawn out.. Elijah Wood's character, to be exact, is too vague and cold for my liking..

As far as plot goes, if you're a fan of Memento, you'll like this movie. It's very jumpy and head-gamey..ish

I liked it.. But I'll need to see it again and again to fully understand it.

Go see it now! I'm sure Eric or Evenwolf have already or will very soon.

Enjoy

Haven't seen it yet. Almost saw it on saturday, but I was going with this girl I like, and I didn't want to go to a head-game, trippy sorta movie.

Love Being John Malcovich though, that was done by the same guy, no?
I make music.

I saw Eternal Sunshine yesterday with my friend Vicky. She hated it, I loved it. I loved the head-gamey-ish feel of it, but also the effects were neat, where they had various people "wink" out of existence in Carrey's character's head while his memories are being erased. I'd give it 4/5 stars. :)

Saw a 9:30 screening of it tonight.  I tried to see a sneak peek of it more than a week ago but the theatre filled up FAST.

1.  I really dug the visual effects.  Innovative and fit the many moods of the film.

2.  Carrey and Winslet did a good job.

Charlie Kaufman has a style building up which I really like.  Malcovich and Adaptation were amazing.  Human Nature is n't as good but entertaining and similar in nature.  I haven't seen Confessions of a Dangerous Mind yet and really want to.

LGM, how'd you know? :)

I thought Confessions of a Dangerous Mind was great.

Kauffman has a pretty good track record so far.

Does anyone get the inside joke in this photo?  the picture really confused me for a moment but I think it's hilarious.

You mean, how they're shooting with two Nicholas Cages?

Or did you mean the strange dude with the pink shirt in the background?

Edit: I also read that Marc Coppola (Nic's brother) used to stand-in as one of the Kauffman brothers.

Ironically, recent Oscar-winner Sofia Coppola (Nic and Marc's cousin) used to be married to Spike Jonze, the director of Adaptation.

And, as an extra side-trivia, aparently the Giovanni Ribisi character in Lost in Translation was based on Jonze.

quintaros (at school)

Spoiler
I would guess that the inside joke is that the photo appears to be a behind the scenes shot of a film crew (for Adaptation I presume) but since Cage appears twice in the shot, it has to be a SFX shot.  Since its an SFX shot than its not actually behind the scenes.

Not quite sure how ironic that is, but nonetheless; it's also interesting to note that another cousin of Sofia's (first name basis!), Jason Schwartzman, had his first role as the star of Rushmore, which also featured Bill Murray as a pretty important character.

It's a fucking Coppola conspiracy, man.

As for Spotless, it's not coming out here for over a month - which is annoying, as I'm pretty sure that they've been running cinema trailers here as long as they have in the US - but I cannot fucking wait.  I loved Malkovich, Adaptation and Confessions (those last two I saw, in the cinema, on the same day; fascinating, no?) and I enjoyed the script for Human Nature (I haven't seen the actual film, oddly), although it seemed to me more of a traditional comedy than the other three, so I'm really on tenterhooks waiting for it.  I've actually had the screenplay on my hard drive for almost a year, but I decided to wait for the film itself.  So I will.

Yes.

Well, it is ironic when you consider her two cousins are in a movie directed by her hubby.

I haven't seen it yet, but I really want to.

Being John Malcovich was such a great movie as was Adaptation (more so the second and third time I watched it).  Confessions of a Dangerous Mind was a lot of fun (Sam Rockwell is a genius).  I haven't seen Human Nature yet though.

Aside from the fact that it looks horribly photoshopped, it is pretty funny.  I didn't know he was a twin!!

Sofia Coppola dolls up well ... but I really think she's Coyote Ugly.

I'd describe that as more unusual than ironic (or perhaps even disconcertingly USUAL; curse those professionally inbred Coppolas!), but semantically speaking I can't really justify why you should use one and not the other, so meh.

Either way, I just deployed the phrase 'professionally inbred' - worship me!

Lycos at least disagrees:

3. coincidental; unexpected: It was ironic that I was seated next to my ex-husband at the dinner.

Trapezoid

It's probably not a coincidence though. Sofia most likely met Spike through her cousins, or vice versa.

So.. Yea.. Anyone else understand the film? I know I missed a few things..

Did anyone else notice that there were scenes in the trailer that were never in the film. Where's the seen where the doctor is walking down the hall with a tennis racket, or where he's standing outside the window like a stalker??

Those made the movie look more weird, but where were they?
You. Me. Denny's.

evenwolf

trailers are often made before the final cut.  trust the editor, the movie is probably better without them.

A big example of scenes in trailers that never show up can be seen in the trailer for "Two Weeks Notice", where Sandra Bullock and her friend are talking, saying "You love him!" - "I LOVE him??" - "You love him!". That was never in the movie (at least not in the DVD) and ended up being in the Deleted Scenes section.

Today, Nae and I went to this special art and music festival at the Brisbane Art Gallery.

They had music videos from both Michael Gondry and Spike Jonze.

It was smooth, baby!
