Once on the history channel they had a special about pirates. According to them real pirates didn't go around saying AAARRR all the time. Then again these are the same people who say the pyramids and stonehenge may have been built by UFOs so...

If I remember correctly Treasure Island was the template for all subsequent pirate themed fiction and pirate characters. We should ask R. L. Stevenson where did he get his ideas for pirate mannerisms.

Maybe he just made everything up?  ???
