Well this looks exciting, and the date is near:

The iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchisis ever, Battle each other on Earth for the first time on film. The discovery of ancient pyramid buiried in Antarctica sends a team of scientists and adventurers (no Guybrush) to the frozen continent. There, they make an even more terrifying discovery ; two alien races engadged in the ultimate battle.

No matter who wins, we lose.

yes its the Aliens vs Predator movie and it look mighty fine. Check out the official site at

who do you think will win? Post your comments here.

Adamski

I think it has all the potential of being the worst film ever made.

nice comment...  care to tell us why?

If they make it in a true 1980s way, with lots of gore and no real story, then I'm gonna love it!

Privateer Puddin'

I am also predicting an almighty screw up, i hope i am proved wrong though :)

DGMacphee

This is going to suck like Freddy Vs Jason. It won't be awesome, like Rocky Vs Mr T.

Because it's being directed and written by Paul Anderson, who is a very, very poor director and writer.

I went through a few emotions when I saw this preview at the cinema a week ago. I ended up at 'uncertainty'. I mean, I -love- Aliens, and I truly would love to see them being scary little bastards of monsters once more, kicking the predators asses I might add ^_-

... but like a few people have said, this is very likely to suck. If you've seen the preview, it seems to be heavily based on the humans, who don't seem to die automatically upon entering the pyramid - which is just wrong. If they die quickly in a lot of blood this could be remedied, but knowing movies these days, this probably won't happen. I bet you anything at least one of them survives and finds SOME way to save the world from them - URGGGGGGG! The reason it worked with the original Alien movies (meaning 1 & 2 mainly) was that they created the perfect human character to work with them, and she met with tragedy OFTEN. This time, it just looks like a team of 'spunky' guys and gals who'll be totally freaked out by their situation, the unpopular ones will die quickly and the left overs will somehow manage to find various safe spots and probably a big ancient button that blows the whole place up or something.

If all this DOESN'T happen, and it really is a movie all about aliens being scary and predators being... reggae, it could be good.

I love the concept of these X VS X things - they're like something a bunch of 13 year old nerds would think up, and that's a beautiful thing. This one could make for the greatest B-Movie of all time. Plus, it's got Lance Henrikson in it, and you can't beat a bit of Lance Henrikson action in an Alien film.

But... writer/director Paul Andrerson does NOT have a reputation as a talented guy, and the US PG-13 rating suggests there wont be much gore. For a film like this, having little gore seems to be missing the point a little.

It could still be good fun, though. And if it's a hit, maybe that Ridley Scott/James Cameron Alien 5 collaboration might have a better shot of happening.

I reckon they should bring back Highlander and have him fight Shaft.

Evil

Yes, another humble attempt by Hollywood to bring life back into soldout characters.

The way I see it is like every other monster vs. They will fight eachother and kill some of the heros, most likely the black one and bitchy teen. But in the end, the main characters will take revenge on them both and somehow manage to escape certain death from an exploding building, suposidly killing the monsters. But in the end we will see one of their hands move or an eye open, only to line itself up for another shitty movie that you will still watch even after you bitch about how bad the first one was.

There, I saved you $6.50, and taught you how to write the perfect monster vs. movie.

earlwood

But what if they band together, and realize they could probably get more accomplished together as a team? And at the end, they are walking into the sunset holding hands after stomping the human race into the dirt? I will just wait for it on Pay-Per-View next year and watch it for $2...get my money's worth.

When Alien met Predator, Awww. that's cute... (Said in a very non-homosexual manner)

I was really looking forward to carnage! I want it to be much like that movie where they go to space and fight those giant bugs, Now THAT was a gory movie!

LGM

Here it is again, another example of people bashing a movie before it's released.

I don't even want to touch this arguement.. I just know I'm gonna go see it without any high or low expectations. It's just a damn movie.
You. Me. Denny's.

I'm hoping they keep it in the spirit of Aliens (and not Predator) because the aliens shouldn't be around during the time of the first two predator movies.Ã,  So I'm hoping they stick with the Aliens time line.

My fear is that they're going to throw a bunch of shitty hip-hop in there to appeal to the brainless masses and make it so ghetto it'll scarcely relate to the other movies in their series.Ã,  But hopefully it'll be good hip-hop like Geraldo and Vanilla Ice.

They rated it PG-13 which basically kills it for me in the first place.

Now I must say, I have such low expectations that I might (MIGHT) be suprised by it.Ã,  Usually when I go in anticipating something is good I get disappointed when it blows chunks.Ã,  But I don't think this'll be good ... so who knows??

Robert Eric

Whether it sucks or not I'm going to see it, and knowing me, I'm going to enjoy it.

Does... not... compute...

I too have a bad feeling about tis one. However, like Darth, my expectations are so low, I may just be pleasantly surprised. I went into Anderson's "Resident Evil" with the same mindset, and walked away feeling okay about the movie (yes, it was crap, but I didn't want to whack myself across the wang with a rusty frying pan afterwards either, which is what I'd sort of expected to happen... [which begs the question of why I watched it in the first place....]).

They should have just stuck with the plotline from the original Dark Horse comic mini-series, as it was quite good and really, what started the whole idea in the first place (yes, it predated the alien queen skull seen in Predator 2... which I totally freaked out over, btw).

I hoping that it'll be great, though. Really, really hoping.

Scummbuddy

I've been following the movies creation for the past 5 years, back when it was discussed on dark horizons website. I've been so psyched to see it. I didn't notice the pg-13 rating though, which does sound like a bad idea. If I had to guess, knowing as much as I've read about the storyline and such I would say that

And, btw, what was wrong with freddy vs. Jason, I thought it was very well done, and was much much better than my expectations. I'm just waiting for the Freddy, Jason vs. Chucky, Michael/halloween  ;)
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

I too thought Freddy vs. Jason was awesome. As a big fan of both the Nightmare and Friday movies, I found that it was a great tribute to both series'. What I think, is that people have too much expectation in films. I mean, I'm gonna go see AVP, it'll probably be bad, but I'll still love it. Why? Because I'll accept it for what it is.

I think people didn't like Freddy vs. Jason because they wanted to see a movie with character development etc... I mean, if you watch the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, by the third one, I believe, it's not even trying to be scary anymore. The makers of the film just want to kill a bunch of annoying teenagers, make the badguys say witty things, and have fun.

If you watch movies to be entertained, usually you will be, even if the movie is terrible. There's a certain kind of movie that has five different meanings, and deep characters, a gripping plot... Then there's a movie thats fun to watch while you eat some popcorn. Don't get the two confused.
