I'm glad it worked for you :)

If you're really serious about Linux, you could try Artistx.

It's based on Ubuntu and brings lots of audio recording and graphics software out of the box

The only time I use any unix based system these days is when I am at work, as all our servers are using it.  I'm building home file server soon and I'll be using Ubuntu Server to set it up.  I'm equally knowledge with linux and windows.  I prefer linux but Windows is more suitable to what I am doing currently.

I really want to install Ubuntu Studio on my old HDD - it looks awesome, but unfortuantely our DVD burner only burns CDs. Not to sound like an idiot, but since it is a DVD Rom with burning capabilities, wouldn't you think it would burn DVD-Rs too? I don't know, I only installed this a year ago and never tried. It came out of my mother-in-law's computer (Dell 2300).

Is there anywhere where I can find a CD ISO for Ubuntu Studio? Maybe one that isn't as full with programs? The ISO they give you is over a GB.

Is your computer able to boot from a thumb drive?   If so there may be hope ...

Plain Ubuntu fits on a CD so you can install that, then follow the above tutorial to make a bootable USB drive.

Hmm, I think it is, actually. Heh, I wish I thought of that, I REALLY want Ubuntu Studio ;)

I've already burned plain Ubuntu on a disc and tried it out as a live CD and I like it.

Thanks for the info, Rick.

If you weren't using a 9 year old operating system, you could revert back to the previous stable configuration.
