Best "real" music in a game

What, in your honest opinion, is the best use of a "real" song (you know what I mean. Not game music, an actual music track you'd find on some band's album) in a game? There are more and more examples of this sort of thing these days.

For me, its Nine Lives by Aerosmith in the Xbox game, Dead or Alive 2. That song is amazing and it's absolutely kick ass going along with such a kick ass game. I usually hate real music used in games because it seems lazy, and like it's just trying to get more doofuses to play the game by mentioning that Rob Zombie features in it.

I might also mention ALL the music in Giftpia, which comes from street bands in Tokyo, but noone's ever heard of the game so it wouldn't matter. Plus, that music -sounds- gamey.

Nine Lives though. Man. Aerosmith is perfect for that game.

(Yes, I'm well aware of how many threads I start lately. I can't help that I'm so good at making interesting conversation starters)

Who's joking?  Every song in that game rocks.  I just wish I knew the name of the artist who performs them...

The Doom 3 soundtrack is great. Also, Duke Nukem's theme is nice (by Megadeth)

"Stubbs the Zombie" has a nice soundtrack, although the game hasn't been released yet.
Old 50s songs covered by modern indie bands... yay!

But, seriously, folks.
King of the Creatures, Sam and Max hit the road. I want it. I want Itunes to have it.

Darth Mandarb

"Girl in the Tower" - played in the credits of King's Quest IV (I think it was IV).

It was the first time I played a game that had real music and I was blown away!  It was just in the credits but still ... it totally suprised me.  Since then music (in games) hasn't had that effect on me.

I think I'll remember that forever.

I still listen to the song ... found the mp3 a few years back.

The guy who made the theme also did the LOTR theme.

And yes, it's a "real" music.  They liscensed it all and released a QFGV soundtrack music cd and sold it.

I'd have to go with a game that came out a couple of years ago. It's called Aggressive Inline. It is a rollerblading game similar to the Tony Hawk series and the soundtrack on this game is awesome.

I had never heard any of the music before playing AI, but soon fell in love with every song, well almost every song. There were some stinkers too.

Oh, i almost forgot to mention GTA: Vice City. One of the best too.

Just listen to the radio puzzle.

While The Nevehood soundtrack is at the top of my favourite game soundtracks ever, I think the thread is about licensed music in games...
Terry S. Taylor rocks, either way!
