I agree, Darths design is alot better imo than the current one. As terran said, its alot cleaner and nicer.
But i want to second Evens idea of having a competition for the design. This way we could have a few different designs to choose from as well as probably having higher quality designs, do to people competing for the best design.

Plus it seems Chris would dislike the pressure of "owing" anybody*.  However, in a competition environment - Chris using the website would be its own reward to that individual.

*Maybe I'm wrong, but the guy has alot of people asking things from him.

Well ... I wouldn't want much.  Just my name in the credits of AGS and 25% of all his paychecks.

I don't think it's too much to ask!?

Actually, I'd give him the website as payback.  I feel like I owe him.  I think we all do ;)

But I'm up for a competition!  Sounds like fun!

Ahhh, this old chestnut emerges again ;)

Firstly, apologies to Scummbuddy for not putting his design up yet - he sent it to me a long time ago but I've never really had the time to convert it to html and get the site updated.

The reason I haven't been too bothered about the website is that it is functional and does the job, and it's not so ugly that people are repulsed just by looking at it.

But yes, both Scummbuddy and Darth's designs look much slicker and it probably is time for an update. The current design was unveiled for Christmas 2001, so it has been with us for over 2 years now. In fact, the list of games in the sidebar was last reviewed in January 2003 so even if nothing else, it should be updated to include more recent games.

The other thing to consider is these forums - Scummbuddy's design for the website brought it into line with the forums to give a common image. I liked that, and so whatever the outcome of this, it'd be great if the site design is simple enough that it can be applied to the forums too.

Since you guys seem to be up for a competition, that sounds like a good way to go about this. What if we started a new competition in the C&A forum with a deadline of say 3 weeks? How many people would be interested in entering something like that?

I tried to tie the two together a little.  Make the title bar something that could be put up above.  Also, I tried to use similar colors of blue.

Count me in!  I'd be more than interested.  Who starts it?

Well, since you started this thread you should be the one to start the C&A one :)

And I'll definitely give it a try.

It would be a cool addition if you could sort the games on their rating.

Pumaman

Darth - please go ahead and start the competition, if you don't mind. :)

JimmyShelter: that was discussed but rejected. However, the games page rating system is pending a revamp, this page has the details.

Darth Mandarb

I don't mind at all!

The New AGS Website Competition has been started in the Competitions and Activities section.

Go there to enter!!

I look forward to seeing all the entries (and there will be many!!!)
