AGSers Lemmy101 and Captain Binky seem to be too bashful to do it, so I'm doing it for them ;)... may I present for your gaming pleasure, their latest effort...

Carrion Re-Animating!

Made for the Lovecraftian TIGs competition!
Take on the role of famed re-animator Herbert West, as he attempts to hide his latest dark experiments from his neighbours by reanimating the corpses of their loved ones!  Be careful, send the wrong zombie to the door, and you may just have another zombie on your hands...

Features include:

  • Fully 3D graphics!
  • Original music by Nikolas Sideris!
  • Voiceovers!
  • Wholesome zombie-reanimating fun!

I tried to play it--as it looks very enticing--but I get some silly error.

It's big!

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.

To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.

Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.

To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].

:( Damnit not out of the woods yet then. :(

I'm uploading something that may fix it. Cheers JBurger! :)

EDIT: The version there should hopefully be better. Let me know, sorry about that!

*fingers crossed, curses XNA* ;)

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

As a great fan of Lovecraft, and in particular, the Herbert West: Re-Animator story, I'm looking forward to playing this when I can get the install to complete without a

'Create process failed; code 193.  %1 is not a valid Win32 application' error.

nooo why!! ;'(

Damn it this release has been hard. Problem with compo entries with a time limit. :(

Will look into it, thanks. :)

Aha! Sussed it! Uploading now, thanks! :D

New version uploaded. not sure if it'll sort JBurger's problem out (it should) but ProgZ should at least get as far as running the game this time ;)

Thanks! :)

Hmmmmm, d'loaded. This looks really interesting, will post later how it played. Thanks for telling us, Mash! And thanks for making, Lemmy & Binky!

Still receives an error on launch (although no errors in setup):
Probably just some problem on my part.

!!!!
AWESOME!!

Although I'm a little disgruntled, this forum stole my idea for what I was planning to set if I ever won a MAGS competition, and you've stolen my carrion pun. And all without me even mentioning these things to either of you.
Witchcraft, is what it is.

Layabout

Oh man, that's beautiful, it's just I get an error as well. After I've started a game, during the herbert west cutscene at the start. :( I'll try again in a bit and see if it does the same thing, and if so, I'll post the error msg.

Installed and ran fine for me. Very spiffy it is too. :)

Thanks guys! Really glad you enjoyed it! And also, sorry Eggie! :D Our crystal ball plagurism device is functioning perfectly. Muhahaha! :D

Ryan this sounds familiar...:

NOTE for people with advanced audio set ups...

Please note there are currently issues with the 3D sound system and 4 speaker systems:

Quadraphonic speakers.
Surround sound speakers.
7.1 home theater speakers.
7.1 wide configuration speakers.

To play, set your speaker set up in Control Panel to 5.1 or Stereo to avoid crashes.

Layabout

Mine's a basic built in audio setup, nothing flashy here.

lemmy101

Hm :( Well I'm gonna improve error reporting today and do another upload later.

3D + PC doesn't seem to be a good mix for a one month project. Stupid, the amount of different problems on people's machines depending on their hardware is staggering. :(

Sorry about that. :(

Mantra of Doom

I'm getting the same error on launch, but of course, I have to be different and run on vista 64. Changing the compatibility mode did not work, and I've already done all of my "vista tricks".

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

Yeah, implementing 3d stuff in a month is asking for trouble!

Your fix got the game to work for me, but when a cop showed up and got attacked, it crashed when he screamed with this error:

I think the presentation is quite good, and if you'll take some advice, I think you should go a bit farther with this by actually presenting different HP Lovecraft stories together like an anthology with different gameplay conventions so it plays out like one of those old Corman Poe films.

Nice work, and in spite of all the crash issues I'd be surprised if it doesn't win.

Hey ProgZ :D That's good news as that crash is a quite fixable L&B code logic bug, not some dodgy gfx card or install issue like most of them, so is eminently fixable. Will look into it, and thanks for the support! :D Though to be fair lots of people playing the game is more important than winning the compo, we were pretty chuffed with how much we got done in the time, so all the issues people are having has really tore me up....

sorting out these issues will finally allow us to relax a bit :) (zzzZZzz)

jetxl

Seems you even got on Game Trailers. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/43224.html

Were you inspired by Reanimator the briliant b-movies or the original short stories.

Eggie

I'd guess a bit of both.
There's no telling me that character model isn't meant to look like Jeffrey Combs.

lemmy101

#19
Well officially we obviously weren't inspired by the copyrighted film, but the public domain short stories...

But then... ;D

Progz that problem is fixed in latest.  Zombies aren't supposed to attack the copper, the game's meant to end if he hits a zombie... but since my copper class is derived from the visitor class... somehow it must have slipped though. Doh.

Thanks everyone! :D
