All the recent debate threads about religion and politics got me thinking, 'Who should play cartoon characters if they were in live action films?"

A profound philosophical inquiry, I'm sure you'll agree. So far all I've come up with is:

Homestar Runner: Zach Braff (JD from Scrubs)
Strongbad: Jack Black
Bubs: Cedric the Entertainer

I'd like here who you guys think would to a good job of bringing cartoon and adventure game characters to life.

Mr Flibble

I always thought that if ever a Monkey Island movie were made, Zach Braff would make an awesome Guybrush.

Well, Dominic Armato might too.  :P

I think that Live Action version of the Simpsons opening proved that this sort of thing should never, ever be allowed to happen.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

Elmer Fudd: George W. Bush
Foamy: Jason Mewes

I don't know any of those characters.

Fat Albert was played by Kenan Thompson most accurately in the movie. It was too bad the movie sucked.
Heman was played quite well by Dolph Lundgren.
Arnold is a spitting image of Conan the Barbarian.
Matthew Lillard was spot on as Shaggy.

Of course, these are oldies. I don't know about new ones since the cartoon world seems to be full of either cartoon network cartoons or remakes of old cartoons. But I guess if we're talking in terms of adventure game characters, I'd suggest the following:

Joseph Cotten as the hero in the Last Express (I LOVE YOU VEL!).
Woody Allen as DOTT's Bernard.
John Malkovich as DOTT's Fred.
Edward James Olmos as Grim Fandango's Domino.
Eric Idle as Discworld's Rincewind.

Aren't we forgetting a certain someone who shot another man in the face with a shotgun?

Hmm... Point taken.  ;)

*Hyde sings, "Cheney's got a gun..."

EDIT:  By the way, please don't tell me you guys don't know who Foamy is...

I have the shirt! And a random guy shouted "FOAMY! \m/ (>o<) \m/" at me at assembly 2006. Because I wore the shirt and he probably hadn't slept in 4 days.

The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

I've had this debate with friends of mine.  We had the Thundercats covered at one point, as well as a bunch of other cartoons.  When I'm more sober, I'll explain in more detail our choices.

Good point Jet.

I am really hoping for some sort of adult comdey starring any of the comedy geniuses, such as John Lovitz, or Steve Martin, John Lithgow, or any people that have been doing dumb family comedy movies, and should be doing great works.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Steve Martin writes a lot of hilarious books and a few plays. So you could search those out.

But I agree, I miss Steve Martin being funny and not going "WOAH! Look at all these kids! WOW! OH NO! I hope I don't get hurt! WHERE IS THEIR MOTHER?!?"

Tom S. Fox

Christopher Lloyd would be a good Drew Blanc.  ;)

Joseph DiPerla

Zak McKracken: Jim Carrey, or Matthew Broderick.
Leslie: Anne Heche

Sorry, I had to add Zak to the pack. And Leslie was the only other character I could think of an actor for.
