Culture shock!

I'm just wondering what things people have done lately to "get cultured" and stuff? ;) As my dad would say I had a dose of culture at the weekend just gone. It was a Shakespeare day for me, visiting his birthplace, Stratford Upon Avon - to see a performance of King Lear. Although I didn't visit Shakespeare's actual birthplace in the town, I did visit Shakespeares Starbucks and enjoyed a Shakespearean cup of Latté. At the Shakespearean price of £3.65.

King Lear was intense. Especially when you have a smokers cough, and you're in the third row from the front. And especially when you don't really want to be distracting the likes of Sir Ian McKellin (Gandalf...or my personal favourite..DEATH IN LAST ACTION HERO!!1), Sylvester Macoy (Dr Who), Will Gaunt (dunno) & Jonathon Hyde (Jumanji's Van Pelt!)... LOL. I even saw Ian McKellins penis. So I think I was more than cultured that day.

So, what have other people done that is considered culture, lately? :)

Seen Gandalf's cock?

Bet ya haven't :P

Stratford Upon Avon is the biggest tourist trap ever.  I ate at the Shakespearean McDonald's, where we had a Big Mac"beth".

Disco

Erm, I just bought tickets to see Pink Martini next month, that maybe counts O_o. Their last album featured 14 songs in 6 languages

"Part French cabaret and part Hollywood musical, this stylish 12-piece orchestra plays a wildly eclectic musical mix that falls somewhere between a 1930s Cuban dance orchestra, a classical chamber music ensemble, a Brazilian marching band, and Japanese film noir. Get ready to stir things up with this ultra-chic ensemble."

No?

Aside from that, I visited England, Wales, Scotland, France and Spain last summer and witnessed some culturey things.

Tiki

I lived in a Mexican orphanage for a week in April.  Played with the kids, did construction, and bought a hammock.

Can't get more culture than that.

I read Tuesdays With Morrie
That stuff changed my outlook in a lot of ways. Great book.
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

Boney

I recently visited a beer festival in Copenhagen featuring about a million danish beers. I got plenty cultured...

Sam.

I speak French, am trying to learn spanish, and study law. I am the king of culture.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Nacho

This is moving into "Which cultural theme park I visited lately". And I think m0ds is asking about what do we do to improve our culture. I am allways reading a book. Not the same book... When I finish one, I pass to another. I like historical books, and sometimes some scientific book, like history of time and (I didn' t get a word) Einstein' s theory of relativity.

I am a smart ass.
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

I copulated with a French prostitute.. Does that count?
You. Me. Denny's.

I'm always read a book too, but not the same than Nacho... (Reading C. Jones AGS manual lately, I enjoyed even if the ending was somewhat predictable).
Spoiler
A brace-ending, what are you thinking?

See a local performance of Moliere's Scapin last week-end, college stuff but still good; Riding museums; Do the same than Igm once in a while, but without paying; I'm Having fun on Wikipedia too.  And now, I'm looking forward to see the 'Body World' exhibit who finally came in Montreal.

Never have the luck of seeing any Shakepspear Shakespeare, but I'm not into adult experimental theater, like m0ds seen to like it :P
"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe. Destroyed pigeon nests on the roof of the toolshed. I watched dead mice glitter in the dark, near the rain gutter trap.
All those moments... will be lost... in time, like tears... in... rain."

Well, Liverpool is the 2008 Capital of Culture. I should get some culture points just for being here, right? 'Cause otherwise, I've got nothing unless you count an umpteenth reading of Hitchhiker's Guide. I saw a bit a Shakespeare when I was younger - Midsummer Night's Dream and a ballet version of Romeo and Juiliet, and I was almost in a school production of MacBeth - but I think any culturefying has worn off by now.

Will Gaunt (dunno)
The one from The Champions?
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

MrBen

I bought Siera's Space Quest collection and am plying retro adventure games. Im not sure if that would count as culture though lol.

Mr Jake

Im currently taking in the immense cultural differences between my home land of England and this wasteland known as Wales.

MrBen

Lol, one of my friends was working in a really rural part of wales the other month and no one would sell him cigarettes, They said they couldn't understand him but all the signs were in English. he eventually stormed out of the shop after yelling "How many languages can i say Lambet and Butler in?!?". I also have another friend at uni in cardif though and he's had no problems.

Layabout

It was a local shop for local people...

i'm going to a wedding in France friday week. I guess that could be culture...
I am Jean-Pierre.

I haven't done a lot of cultural stuff lately.

Although I have to say Stratford upon Avon was a pleasant experience for me. I was there one year ago, and the weather was wonderful and everyone was happy. The play we saw was so-and-so, but the weather was great!

Akatosh

I went to that theatre a couple of weeks ago, and I watched the entire show, with real actors and stuff.

Real actors, as opposed to cardboard models? You must have paid a fortune.
