I've decided to start a D&D game on the forums.
If you want to play it, reply with your name, your class (Fighter/Mage/Cleric/Thief), your race (Human/Elf/Dwarf/Halfling/Gnome/Half-Elf). Gnomes, Halflings and Dwarves cannot be mages.

Oh man, that's 1st or 2nd ed.  Why don't you just go back to chainmail?  CHAINMAIL!  I mean, THAC0?  Why put yourselves through that? Not to mention the complete cookie cutter classes.

Also, those stats you rolled?  I believe that those are mandatory reroll terrain, there.  The highest stat is a 14, no one's getting bonuses of any sort at all.  Really, consider 3.5, it much better.  I've played everything since 1st ed, as well as palladium, white wolf games, fudge, paranoia and Call of Cthulhu.  Do everyone a favor, switch systems and reroll those characters.

It might be a good AIM chat room game. If I remeber correctly, there's a d20 command.

I rather start a text adventure.... err... I mean.... "interactive fiction". 4th edition rules. yeah. 4th edition.

You're standing in front of a mansion. The door seems to be closed shut. You see a rug, some shrubs, a mailbox... and that's about it.

> Search shrubs for berries to eat.

There are 2 blue berries.

> Pick up berries.

Unknown phrase: "Pick up"

> Take berries.

Unknown phrase: "Take"

> Quit
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

scummbuddy,

you're missing the point...there's a whole new puzzle in trying to find the correct word!  that's more than twice the puzzles!

Mr Jake

Funny you should say that, atm Ginny is working on a bot that allows you to play Text Adventures with people over IRC :)

You take the berries

To get back on-topic:
I'd personally like to, but I have doubts whether this would work on the forums within a reasonable frame of time...

I'd want to play this game if it could on the forums well.
Games are art!

Okay, here's the first one.

You are in a small room, with walls, ceiling and floor made of wood. There is a small window here, you can see a forest when looking through it. There is also a door and a table here. On the table, there is a small sack.
You know what they say... no... wait... you don't. What a shame.

I'd like to enter as a DWARF FIGHTER...

D&D Roleplaying is not unlike playing adventure games. In a situation like this, you are most likely to look at your surroundings, be sceptical with the small sack, talk/interact with other players...
Eventually we will come across monsters which we fight (and maybe steal their equipment afterwards) and thus we'll gain experience.

I might as well demonstrate...
>I look for traps around the sack

If none are found (NOTE: The game master might throw a dice to determine whether I find the (potentially) hidden trap or not! That does not mean that there is no trap!),

>I open the sack to take a look inside and being a dwarf grab everything that looks valuable...
>I ask Goél who he is and what we are doing in that freaking cottage...

Btw. I'm quite a frequent role-player, although I haven't too much experience with D&D...
