I will make the following assumption of the final Matrix movie without even seeing it (based upon previous movies):

1. There will be lots of philosophical mumbo-jumbo that doesn't really add to the story.

2. There will be one kick-arse fight scene between Keanu and another cast member.

3. There will be one cool chase scene (ala previous helicopter and motorcycle scenes in previous movies)

4. Someone will be brought back to life with the completely pansy-assed Hollywood treacle bullshit method.

5. Agent Smith will get all the cool lines.

I haven´t seen it, I can talk of the second movie. IMHO it was one of the crappiest films on history, I said once that it was like written for a gang of "wankers-inhabitants of the dungeon of the android-teenagers", you know what I mean...



Only this kind of people can be emotioned with some of the scenes of the matrix, while smart and mature people are just sick of how silly they are.

I went to a Matrix Marathon at the Cinema last night. All three films in a row. And I thoroughly enjoyed my time. The first movie (and the trilogy in general) has been over hyped, but Matrix was pretty damned cool. Ignore the fact that the movies aren't really as original as everyone says they are (Yes, Wachowskis, I too watch Asian cinema) and it really was a pretty special movie.

I was disapointed by the second movie when I saw it, but I liked it last night. And I really liked the third movie. I liked the fact that it wasn't pure hollywood predictability, I wasn't expecting everything that happened, and I liked watching it. The trilogy, as a whole, works together nicely.

The only thing that still annoys me is the dependance on the game to give fairly integral parts of story. I'm really going to have to play that stupid thing some time soon.

In short, I liked seeing all three movies one after the other in the cinemas. And we watched Animatrix on a friend's laptop while waiting in line. Good times.

Well, Farlander, I'll have you know that I am a proud member of the group which you oh-so-eloquently described as "wankers-inhabitants of the dungeon of the android-teenagers", and I still thought that The Matix was shit.  So much so, that, like any sensible person, I didn't even bother seeing the second one (Intacto was showing at the time, so I saw that instead - go me).

I did get the Animatrix, though, but only because Peter Chung rules.

I'll probably see it.. and I'll probably enjoy it.  However, I'll go to see it as just-another-movie.. just a fun way to kill a couple hours and munch some popcorn.  There are very few movies I've hated so much that I would spend any time ranting and raving about them afterwards.  As long as it isn't boring or irritating then I don't consider it a waste of time.  

Of course, for all you people who only watch Independant films and think anything that costs over $10,000 is over-hollywood-ized: Do you think that's an original thought?  If you don't like hollywood movies, don't see 'em.  They're pretty much all the same, they're made for the average citizen and won't be immensely humorous, have outstanding realism, amazing action or a novel-worthy plot-line.  They can still be good for a few laughs.  

Do the matrix movies live up to the hype? No, of course not.  Is it still better than seeing The Perfect Storm or Seabiscuit?  Damn straight.

Yak, I don't think any of us are beyond a nice bit of brainless popcorn fluff every now and again, but the problem is the Matrix is a rather unpleasant bit of brainless popcorn fluff that thinks it isn't.

I don't think the brothers or makers have deluded themselves to that extent.  I think they know it's a hollywood fluff-piece.  It's the over-zealous fans that make me hate the movie a bit..  the ones who buy everything matrix-linked and talk about nothing but that.  The ones that actually believe in the Matrix philosophy really scare me.  I'm just saying that if you go to a movie not to have a good time but being prepared to criticize it, you can expect not to have a good time.  Anyone who can't enjoy a little brainless action and some CG is in for disappointment.  

Maybe I'm not as bitter about the matrix-movies as some since I don't watch TV and thus see no advertisements about it (minus a banner-ad or two).

Why they think just speaking slooowly and vaguely is philosophical?

The underground walls were full of Powerade banners. That make me think Matrix 3 is more like a TV spot (olny made with the making-money idea) than a true movie like the first (The second seemed a musical videoclip IMO).

Y'know, one year ago, before i'd seen Reloaded and Revolutions I would have happily argued with Shattered that 'The Matrix' was one of the best things ever as opposed to 'flush me down the toilet now please' material.

Now after seeing the second film again on DVD, the third film last night, and Kill Bill, I really do hate the Matrix and The Wachowski Brothers and want to punch them in the face. Several times. True, I did come back from the second film being Mr. Positive about it, but that changed when I saw it again. And saw that godawful sex-scene which I missed in the cinema as I had to nip out and urgently go to the toilet.

Blah, so Mr. Sponge, I now more or less agree with you.

This kid in my class was walking and her turned to another kid and was like "Did you hear what happened in the Matrix?" and this kid said "YEAH! NEO DIES!!!" He got tackled by 3 or four kids... It was great...
