Domain name

Ok, I'm sure some of you guys remember that the reason why adventuredeveloper change its name to adventuredeveloperS was because some company in HK called ultsearch bought the domain name when mojo was down and I don't know the exact details, but I guess the domain name was marked as abandoned. You can still see what happened at http://www.adventuredeveloper.com/

Anyway, for years I've been looking at the domain name www.monkeygames.com (for obvious reasons), and it seemed that some dufus owned the site and had it as half his homepage half 3 game reviews. Then after years of not updating the page, he didn't either update the domain registration or his contract finally expired. Guess where I'm getting to. Yes, ultsearch has bought the domain, which you can see the horrible results at http://www.monkeygames.com/

now, what do I do? I wanted a cool domain name. I had monkeygames.net for a while, but I hated the .net part so I decided to abandon it. monkeygames.org sounds kind of silly to me. dot COM is the cool one.

I could go for another domain name. My other choice is www.monkeygames-entertainment.com. But there may be some who disagree. For one, isn't it a litte bit too long? Any other suggestions to what domain name I should get for MonkeyGames Entertainment?

www.monkeygames-entertainment.com isn't bad.. I've seen longer urls.. If people want to frequent there, they can just bookmark it.

I think monkeygames.com is fine. It's the easiest to remember, and not too long.

It doesn't really need a hyphen in the name, and using THEmonkeygames doesn't really make sense when there's no THE in the name..

I would have to agree with LGM here, www.monkey-games.com seems the best URL.

This little cautionary tale has encouraged me to try and get the name http://www.eggheadcheesybird.com as soon as possible. I mean...Think of all the search engines that want to get their hands on it...

Here's my rules about hyphen: if I write monkey-games I'm reading it as Monkey Games, and it's actually one word, though: monkeygames.

The rerference to real ultimate power dot net (realultimatemonkey) has inspired me for a domain name, though....! maybe I don't really need to have the "company" name in the domain name. I could have something like: "YourMom.com - Home of MonkeyGames Entertainment"

I would, except that netmonkey.com has been taken even before I "invented" the name netmonkey in 1998.

www.yekmon.net (get it? Its netmonkey, but backwards!)

You might want to watch out with picking a domain name that is too similar to another one, not only because some people will be confused (you have to tell them "and remember that hyphen!"), but you can be involved in a lawsuit over it.

For example, if I made a website called Yahooo.com, I could be sued.
