Hiya,

I recently completed an animated music video for Cape-Town band 'Goldfish'. A lot of the stuff from old Lucasarts games like DOTT, SNM, Full Throttle etc ... inspired me. Anyone recall TUNNEL OF LOVE from Sam & Max? Anyways, I've had the comment on more than one occasion that the style reminded a person of DOTT. I really like that game. Also how the games deal with foreground objects with a little blur and darkened. Nice.

Here's the video: Goldfish - 'Get Busy Living':

As a side I really like the Maniac Mansion project going on here. Some of the stuff looks great! Would really like to help ... just concerned about time restraints and other projects. Also never really played through the MM game so not too sure what the deal is though I played through DOTT last year. Loved it.

Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

OMG! I love it. Both song and animations are great!  baie mooi!

Cape Town, represent!

Awesome video though, congratulations! Great stuff.

'baie mooi' and 'cape town represent'! Ha ha. Guess I'm not the only Lucasarts oldie-fan from South Africa ha ha. Shot okes.

@ Dualnames > thanks man. 'Baie Mooi' in Afrikaans means 'very nice'. Schweet.

Wow, you've really mastered facial expressions,  I've never seen such an emotional suitcase before ;D

It also reminds me at Spongebob (in a good way), again expressions and of course the "squareness" ;)

Great work and it fits the music/beat really well.

What programm did you use to animate this - there are nice details like the water ripples bouncing to the beat - was this all done by hand?

While this looks really good and profesional, I don't really think it looks very much like Dott or Lucas arts art (not say that it's worse than it, just that I don't see resemblance in style).

PS. just a suggestion, you might want to make the "Get Busy Lving" text on poster look more polished/finished, cause it gets a bit too blended into the background (make it look more like how you wrote "Goldfish" text)
I don't want the world, I just want your half

Drawn with a Wacom Intuos 3 and Wacom Cintiq 12WX tablets in Photoshop CS4 and animated in Anime Studio Pro 7.

Anian - strange I got quite a few comments that it reminded them of DOTT. Oh well. Thanks for suggestion.

@ mode7 - all done by hand man, scene by scene. Thanks for noticing the details ha ha.

@ abstauber - thanks man. Used to be a huge spongebob fan then I think I overdid it and now he grates me. Like, a spongebob overdose. Still though, I do see the similarities ha ha.

Yeah, I don't see the DoTT resemblance at all, but that doesn't mean your work isn't cool in its own way.  I think you have a very unique style that would make for a very interesting adventure game, which to me is better than being compared (even favorably) to someone else's work.

HAHAHA!AWESOME!

Thanks for sharing! Once I get back home I'll probably go on and buy a few of your stuff! They sound (and look) awesome!

BTW, I would be interested in buying a DVD with the videos you've made (not that I couldn't download them from youtube, but this is me...). Is there a way to do that? I think my kids would love watching such music videos! :D
