I had a wierd experience when I was camping last year, where suprisnly out of coincidence everyone there had heard of AGS and one guy even shared the name Chris Jones with our very own AGS creator... coincidence?

...

Yea, there are sometimes though when I'm talking to people about what I do, but generally I've no experience like that, one of my friends at University had downloaded AGS back in its DOS days but didn't really get into it.
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.

Anyway, I also met Jake Rodkin from Mixnmojo/Idle thumbs at that same time since he lives in the San Fran area. Anyway, he and Chris Remo (aka remixor) tried to make an AGS game once, but it was poorly planned and they weren't into it so they never got around to it.

Spaff was the main character of that game ;)

Squinky, I think a couple of Idle Thumb forumers work at Telltale too... It'll be pretty odd randomly meeting people you sort-of know :)

Hello again, it's your old friend, Layabout. I hope all is well...

I have been working in a pub called the Fox and Hounds, near SIlverstone, for about a month now. All is great here. The number of really awesome people you meet when you work for short times in different places is one of my favourite things. I have made friends with an estate agent called Chris, who is having a french baby soon. Then there is Mark P. He's a great guy, comes in every day, has a few pints, a chat with his friends, and goes home. A good laugh. Then there is a really nice couple called Martin and Linda. Martin has a good paying job in MK. Linda is an American, and has been going out with Martin for 6 or so years. They are both a few years older than I am. Since Linda is only on a visiting visa, she can't work. She has to leave this week too, which is really sad.

So yesterday, I had a day off. I called Linda up, because I wanted to go to Northampton and do shooping, and since she doesn't work, and likes to get out of the house, and that she is really fun to be around. So we met up in the centre of Towcester, a smallish town near where I am.

I told her to meet me in a pub, The Brave Old Oak, which subsequently she did. We had a few drinks, and a chit chat about her boyfriends family and other stuff, it was a good old time.

After 3 pints, we kindof realised it was a bit silly to attempt to go to Northampton, as it was 4:30pm at this time. So we decided to have a quick drink, and go to the Pickled Pig, another pub in the centre of Towcester.

At the pickled Pig, we bought a few drinks and continued to talk about random things...

Many pints and a few pubs later, we were in the Monk and Tipster. Great pub. Martin had met and left us in the time elapsed, and so had Chris, the estate agent. Linda was telling me she use to work in PR for a game software company. I jokingly (or drunkenly) asked if she had met Ron Gilbert or Tim Shaefer. It was to my suprise that she knew who they were, and we discussed adventure games. Which led me to talk about AGS. To that she informed me that she actually has been here on many occasions, and that she used to write for Just Adventure. Which suprised me even more.

All this time I have known her, I'd never even known she was an adventurer. It blew me away and now I want to have babies with her...  :P but I don't think Martin would like that very much.

BTW, if you read this Linda, say hello...

Interesting, I must have totally missed this thread...

It is really cool, Blackthorne :) I had never met a stranger who was already aware of my games or my internet existence as Gord10.
Just only some people who I meet in some local internet site meetings (like deviantArt meetings in my own city) did know about me, and it really feels cool, but it is not what the topic is about.

Interesting story though, dude! Had she met Ron or Tim? Or just knew of them? Maybe she was at Ronittens!!1

Layabout

Hehe, I was very drunk. I don't know if she had met either of them, I cant remember!

BTW, I'm not always drunk...

No, I did!

(Also: no, I'm spartacus!)

Kinoko

ManicMatt and I just had one ^_^ Don't know if that counts, but we found each other on someone's LJ (completely unrelated to games and AGS and all that)

ManicMatt

Actually, we'd both been posting on this person's journal for some time without even realising who the other was!

Kinoko

Well, I can't believe you didn't realise who I was, the nickname is almost the same and it's not exactly a common one :P Yours was -completely- different so I have an excuse!

Akumayo

I've never had such an encounter... In fact, I think Edmundo is the only person within my state that it would even be POSSIBLE for me to encounter  :P

Actually Gord, the other day I was cruising a "Silent Hill" forum.  A friend of mine recently loaned me Silent Hill 2 for the PS2, and I was checking out some of their walkthroughs - and who did I see in "users online"?

Cool-Blue-Gord10.

I was like, heh, I know that guy!  He's an AGSer!

I bump into Igor every-once-in-a-great-while, (on forums... not real life.) He roams the Click community, AGS community, and I've seen him at Pixelation too! (If you don't know Igor, he is the designer of Ignac & Ignac 2.) A very talented individual, says I.  ;D

Wow this is the best thread ever.

I am most impressed with your experiences  :o all i got are hours and hours of trying to explain what is an adventure game to people. Here in Serbia we have quite a lot of dumb guys/girls ! One time i told my brother that I am trying to make a game and short after that he asked me how much money will I get for that disturbing !

So fellows AGSers be happy with your friends/people near you .
Because all I got is bunch of FPS players and Hollywood lovers  :-\

Bah I am going to watch some Anime and play "Apprentice" ( in your face Geoffkhan  ;) )

Ah yes I had my girl Lena and we shared AGS together but now she left me.
