Hi all good peeps.

Just finished watching "Evil Dead 3- Army Of Darkness".

I have watched all three films... Many times before (Cos I love them) ;D

I did a bit of Googling and found that there is talk of an 'Evil Dead 4' where Bruce Campbell may have a cameo role.
Now I don't know if anyone here would agree with me...But.

After watching Mr Campbells facial features I couldn't but help to see Jim Carrey!!

I Think that he would make a fantastic 'Ash' in another 'Evil Dead' film.

Many kind regards.
Jay.

I actually thought it was Jim Carey for a while during the first film when i watched itt for the first time :P

But I dont think the king can be replaced, even by JC

Matt Frith

Pretty sure  Evil  Dead 4 will never be made.  I also hope JC will never play Ash as that would offend me greatly.

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

Jim Carrey as Ash?  Did you seriously just write that?  Worse...do you seriously believe he's a patch on The Chin's ass?

Wow.

Dualnames

I like JC, but I have to agree with the rest, he'd probably kill the series.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Aren't those movies in "just so great because they're so bad" and "awesome" category? I don't know if that movie would stand a chance with they way production changed over the year...not to say that stuff made these is not mostly crap though.
What I mean is that I just don't see those kind of films made today.

Sam Raimi is still making them. See: Drag Me to Hell.

Raimi has consistently expressed interest in making Evil Dead 4. So has Campbell. Honestly, though, it's one of those things that happens. Directors, writers, actors can say whatever they want. To be honest, I highly doubt a sequel is going to happen. There's still a chance of a Raimi-produced remake, but again, I doubt it. Campbell won't even reprise his role as Elvis in Bubba Nosferatu, so why would he try to reprise the role of Ash. They are smart enough to leave it well enough alone, methinks.

But it's okay. Chances are high that Evil Dead 4 would've sucked, anyhow.

I have heard that the Evil Dead is to be remade - that seems to be the way these days with horror and the'Naughties' cinema. If they're not remaking Japanese Horror's they're remaking making 70's/early 80's horror.

Evil Dead is awesome, no need for a re-make or a sequel. Carrying on from Army of Darkness, seriously?

If you want some more Campbell they watch 'My name is Bruce'  :=

I've nothing against Carrey.  His chosen some good roles, and ended up with some right duffers.  He probably could pull off a decent Ash, but it would be little more than an impersonation, an homage, to Bruce's Ash.

I would like to see another Evil Dead, though.  I love those films.

I read the treatment for Freddy vs Jayson vs Ash.. It wasn't bad.

Wasn't there an alternate ending to "Army of Darkness"? If so what exactly happened in it? Maybe it would be be usable for a sequel.

Also I'm surprised nobody's made a fan game of "Evil Dead/Army of Darkness" (Hint, Hint!)

There was this fun-sounding game on the C64:

As well as a couple of PS2 games.

The alternate ending was Ash took a rip van winkle potion from the 'wiseguy' at the end so he'd wake up in his own time, only it made him sleep an extra hundred years and he woke up after the Deadite Apocalypse (with a very long beard).   Of the two endings it leant itself better towards an immediate sequel, but most people (aside from Raimi) felt it was giving Ash too much shit after all the shit he'd been through so they went with the happier S-Mart ending.  Ultimately I prefer the S-Mart ending since it does leave room for more Deadite slaying fun, and if they made a sequel it could show the gradual progression towards what Ash saw in the future.  No true sequel is likely to ever be made, though.

That other ending sounds cool, I was thinking maybe Ash's actions end up somehow changing the present. Maybe the wizard could reverse engineer his car and learn from the books he brought with him to advance the technology before it's time.

Yeah, I've got two Evil Dead games, "Hail to the King" and "Regeneration"

Having played all the games based on The Evil Dead, I can honestly say that none of them have been much good.

HTTK is a Resident Evil clone which, although managing to evoke some nostalgia in the opening stages, shoots itself in the foot with horrible controls and awkward camera angles.

A Fistful of Boomstick is far more playable, being little more than a third-person beat/hack/shoot 'em-up, but never really gels.

Regeneration is just more Boomstick, with a better, though still fairly average, story. The addition of a half-deadite sidekick grates.

Ironically, the ancient C64 adaption is pretty much closest to the spirit of the original movie.

As for the movies themselves, Army of Darkness seems to be the one that splits the fans. I like it a lot. Funnily enough, I'm pretty much of the opinion that the S-Mart ending is far superior to the apocalypse ending; the complete opposite of how Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell see it.

I wouldn't say there definitely won't be a fourth entry (Raimi is off Spiderman, and The Shadow - which he is producing - isn't due until 2012), as he could always pull a Drag Me to Hell with it, and go low-budget.

Bruce Campbell is 51, though, and seems more interesting in playing Bruce Campbell these days.

He's also starting to look like a weird hybrid of Robert Culp and James Garner.

He just needs to get some weight off, is all.  He porked up quite a bit for Burn Notice.  He didn't look too bad in My Name Is Bruce but he was still a bit heavy.

I do agree that the games have not really done the movies any kind of justice so far, which is a shame.  The interesting thing is that I have yet to play any horror movie license to game that wasn't utter garbage (LJN: Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing, I'm talking 'bout you).

I can't see why anyone would have trouble enjoying Army of Darkness, really.  It was the culmination of all the schtick and in-jokes of Evil Dead 1 and 2 plus a larger budget and more ass kicking.  Can't really ask for more than that.

Agreed, but Evil Dead 2 turns it up to eleven by being Evil Dead 1 minus ANY attempt to take things serious. It also manages some pretty scary scenes where AoD really is nothing but camp (which might turn people off if they expected a "classic" horror flic). Army of Darkness is the "better sequel", but as a MOVIE I'd prefer Evil Dead 2.
All personal taste though. I even sort of accept that there is The Fly 2.
