I tend to agree with Fish on GK3, though despite everything horrible about it (and there was quite a bit) I still somehow I played through it and enjoyed a few things about it.  GK 3 is like a discarded wad of gum on a drinking fountain: it looks disgusting and is full of germs, but if you chew on it you'll discover it still has a little flavor.

As far as GK 2, though...the only redeeming quality of that game was the money I got back for returning it!

You definitely should check out GK 1, though.  It's pretty much the best standard adventure game Sierra made.  Quest For Glory 1-4 are also great, but aside from that I'd skip Sierra and play lucasarts games instead. 

Most early Sierra games were made by sadists, really.

Can a game possibly be devoid of any redeeming features?

Honestly? Imho, yes. Although...

As has been proven, some people enjoyed GK3; so somewhere among it's bloated, stinking husk there logically lies some elements that don't totally offend. I couldn't find them, but others obviously have.

The original GK was a good, solid game.

Next to GK3, GK1 is the equivalent of finding a hot, naked girl in your bed.
With huge knockers.
