For the longest time, the catacombs of King's Quest VI and the graveyard chapter in VII gave me the willies.
You. Me. Denny's.

The camera WAS annoying in defiance! Sure, I wasn't saying it was better than soul reaver!
Defiance was a very average game.

I just liked seeing that bad guy get killed twice!

2ma2

Beyond Good or Evil.

It is truly a storytelling gaming masterpiece. I have yet to come upon something forcing me to play continuosly for 13 hours straight and evading all night sleep.

Shining Force

Gem on the Genesis/Megadrive. I was small, and felt a knot in my stomach whenever someone of my party died on the battlefield. They were all so true and genuine in my heart. They were real. Now when I play it, I have become a cynical bastard and coldly sacrifice my fighters by pure strategic calculations and laugh about whenever Arthur hits the dust. Bloody wanker. But Lowe and Hans must not die. Never!

Sonic the Hedgehog

Do you not just HATE the underwater scenarios? Did you not fear everytime you came upon Labyrinth Zone? Did you not amediatly got so wired and stressed by the horrid drowning tune and countdown that your face turned into a fearsome grimace of misery. Drowning in Sonic is the worst way to die.. ever..

Oh GOD 2ma2 don't get me started on those! The water stages were my worst ... countless hour after hour did I used to spend trying to get past them! I can still hear Sonic gasping for breath when I close my eyes ... Arr-ek.

I have completed Riven once, and never again, because I can't bear too. The story gets to me too much.. the one time I completed it, it was pretty upsetting for me.

I mean, there is no real sequel to Riven in my eyes. There's Myst III/IV, sure, but to me, they're not sequels in spirit. Anyone know what I mean?

R4L

BOF II is very good so far... too bad I can't get the Grass man...
Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game but what made me sick was Sephiroth killed Aeris! BASTARD!

Warcraft: Orcs and Humans - a.k.a Warcraft 1

Cold! This game often succeeds in freezing my back. Dark forests, brutal orcs, dark magic versus holy powers, red blood and screams of defenseless peasants... well, classical and great. One of coolest things on this planet.

It's damn sad that Blizzard ruined this deep stuff in WC2 with stupid wacky voices, light-green disney-cartoon-like happyland orcs & other bullshit (though as a strategy game, it was still good) and went downhill from there.

Quake II

Since my best friend leads a Q2 clan, still denies the fact that it's so outdated and pointless game and keeps recording long demos & showing them whenever I visit him, I've developed physical reactions to this game. I *NEED* a smoke whenever I see it! (smokers should understand difference here - between words "need" and "want")
So we walk out for a smoke and I get spared from this again.

emulated NeoGeo Games (Samurai Shodown IV, Art Of Fighting 2, KOF 2000)

After a long workday full of insults, accusations and stupid assignments, there's nothing that releases my free breathing, lowers blood pressure and calms me down better than finishing one of named games quickly. It's amazing how much these old 2D fighting games both teach (random japanese SNK animator = superhuman) and relax me.

And if I want to lose some hair and break some keyboard, I play HL2:Lost coast with High Dynamic Range Lighting turned on. Suffer, you lousy video card, suffer!

ManicMatt

"HL2:Lost coast with High Dynamic Range Lighting turned on. Suffer, you lousy video card, suffer!"

Blimey dude! That demo struggles on my computer without dynamic lighting on!  It's sluggish with high texture backgrounds, and is fine with medium backgrounds.

Rincewind

Well, as a fellow Terranigma lover, I can wholeheartedly agree about the ending, it was really movingÃ,  the first time I played it. Just brilliant. You can't really compare that game to any other...
The only other game to do something similiar though, would be Grim Fandango, probably...

lo_res_man

Grim fendango , was the best game I have EVER played. It ALMOST made me cry. Myst got me when it started, and when you a foolish at thend (my gut was clenching as atrus railed at me). nuff said.

The Restroom Wall

Akumayo

Parasite Eve... anyone played it?  I loved that game, the ending was great also...  I walked around feeling special for months after finishing it in extra mode.

Totoro

Someone remembers the Cinemaware classic "Kings of Chicago"? Gosh, that's a long time ago. I was too little then to actually understand English, but when the mother cried because she found out her son is a gangster, I cried too and my parents had to console me...  :(

ManicMatt

Nope, I must have missed out on that cinemaware game!

Okay, so i only ever played two cinemaware games I think:

Defender of the crown (good)
The three stoogies (Erm... yeah.. was kinda funny I think)

scourge

ManicMatt

Not the third suikoden?

EDIT: Erm.. I meant the fourth one. i never played the third one.

scourge

No, the first two, they rock!

InCreator

I remember yelling at "King of Chicago" since even forcing 150mhz pentium to run on 2 Mhz didn't make gun aiming possible... It just moved at hyperspeed!  Stupid game!
Then again, I would love to see a remake, with a bit polished (adventure!) style/interface. I loved the story, graphics and atmosphere.

AlbinoPanther

We were full of tears  :'( when we finished Syberia 1.And after Kate returned to her journey we were  ;D .

Monkey island 1 still make us LOL and we act like a kids when we play it it's so BEST in series with that insult sword fight.

Sanatorium made our mind feel strange

And Martin Mystere was THE greatest SH*T we were waiting for that one ( I am MM fan for as long as i remember and my girlfriend read it now and than ) and it turned to be THE WORST game ever.

Helm

Dreamweb has good ambience. Captain Blood too. Fate of Atlantis is my most pleasant gaming experience on the whole. Flashback shaped my aesthetic sense. Shadow of the Beast too. But there's been no games to evoke something so amazingly strong like a good book or comic or movie have managed so far.
WINTERKILL

Ghormak

I always feel uneasy when I play a certain level in Thief: Deadly Shadows (ie. Thief 3)

If you've played the game, I think you know which level I mean.
Achtung Franz! The comic
