I'm thinking of using Google AdSense using my paypal account, thing is what do I have to do? Apart from creating an account. What should I be aware of?

That you'll never make any real money from it, and people will moan because you have them on your site.

Honestly. :)

Unless your site is generating a daily hit count of the five or six figure variety, that is. And that most of your visitors aren't running Firefox with Adblock, or something similar. Or you try something like this:

(From Wikipedia)

"Some webmasters create websites tailored to lure searchers from Google and other engines onto their AdSense website to make money from clicks. These 'zombie' websites often contain nothing but a large amount of interconnected, automated content (e.g., a directory with content from the Open Directory Project, or scraper websites relying on RSS feeds for content). Possibly the most popular form of such "AdSense farms" are splogs (spam blogs), which are centered around known high-paying keywords. Many of these websites use content from other websites, such as Wikipedia, to attract visitors. These and related approaches are considered to be search engine spam and can be reported to Google."

I have an adsense account, but it is utterly worthless to me because I get next to NO hits.
I have earned about $6 in over 3 years, and considering you can't claim any cash from it until you reach your first $100, I think I have a hell of a wait ahead of me.

That said, I put absolutely NO effort into my sites and haven't updated anything for yonks.  But if you are willing to put the effort in and think you can drum up some steady traffic then you could be looking at a little cheque every once in a while.  You'd by no means be living off it, but every little helps.

I used to find google ads annoying, but these days I find myself clicking on them as a small gesture of support for the people who have made the site (only if they deserve it, though).

Do AdSense pay you in your PayPal? I didn't think it did.

Anyway, what Stu said ^ ..

I've had adsense since middle of last year, got a few adverts up and I'm on about $60. They don't pay you until you've reached $100, so that could be 2010 before that happens!! You seriously DO need a website which brings in a lot of visitors, otherwise it seriously isn't worth it. s7 gets about 6 people a day, bc.com gets about 100 - so its fairly obvious which is making the AdSense add up. I've actually removed the ad I had at s7 because it just wasn't getting any clicks. Perhaps if you make a game, give it a website and its popular (or you think it will be) then yeah getting an AdSense account would be worth it.

I've made around $100 in about 3 years on various websites  (including the AGS wiki). Which isn't much, but it's still something for nothing!

Last time I checked the stats on one my websites for this year we had about $60. thats a couple of weeks ago...
