QuoteBut then I can afford to stop caring. I'm not raising children.

The problem here is that you're not the only person who thinks this is adequate justification for doing nothing.  People justify it in many ways, and the people of our tiny speck of real estate in space are gradually caring less and less about the world around them and becoming more and more introverted.  I'm not really singling you out here, it's just an issue that interests and alarms me at the same time.

LimpingFish

Yes, you are 100% correct. Which is why it depresses me so much.

Great, now I'm depressed too ;(.  I hate you, Jack Thompson. >:O

ManicMatt

LET'S KILL JACK THOMPSON!

I know all the best weapons to take him out with! I learned them all from the game "America's army"!

R4L

shh about Americas Army! I don't want Jack Thompson to know!  :=

No "Yeah, but what's the worse that could happen?"

Exactly, ban Dr Pepper!

Jack Thompson strikes again.

All I can say is ... how ...  utterly ... ridiculous ....

Does anyone else find it amusing(?) that the murderer (already convicted and in jail) is included in the suit? As if getting him for murder wasn't enough, now they want him for playing video games.

* shakes head in disgust *

Vince Twelve

From TFA:
QuotePosey was charged in 2004 for the murders of his father, step-mother and 13 year old step-sister at a New Mexico ranch, after an alleged long history of parental physical and sexual abuse.

Yup.  Definitely the fault of video games.

If you ignore him he goes away.

R4L

I should organize a group of super shinobi and kidnap Jack. After doing that I shall give him a long torture of playing the worst games in history! Like Aquaman for XBOX!!!!!

The horror....

ManicMatt

"Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City gave the teen simulated weapons training and made him an "extraordinarily effective" killer, adding, 'Posey essentially practiced how to kill on this game. If it wasn't for Grand Theft Auto, three people might not now be dead.'"

Of course! Pressing a bunch of buttons makes me damn HARD! Watch out people! I was sniping on Halo! I could effectively now know how to assemble a sniper rifle and shoot anyone a mile away!

Also, I was playing Tony Hawks skateboarding, so I'm really good at skateboarding now, and I haven't even been on a real skateboard!

Stay the f- away from me. Like a tea kettle on the stove, you're a maniac waiting to blow.

Same goes for any other of you godless, murderers-in-training Halo players ....

Hmmm, now that I think about it ... since games obviously lead to violent behavior, which means you're just a walking time bomb, I wonder if I can pre-emptively sue you for causing (among other things) psychological stress. Anyone got Jack's number?

ManicMatt

I'd think twice before doing that Eagermind!

I'll tell him you play adventure games! Then he'll think you go around talking to yourself and picking everything up that isn't glued to the surface! He'll think you're mad for sure and lock you up in the mental asylum! Even if he did lock me up, I've played Oblivion, Splinter Cell and Thief - Lockpicking skills!  8)

PsychicHeart

I recently played Simcity, which is good because they now want to ban it. It features the breaking of federal building regulations, see.

You have no idea how much I laughed at that!   :D

Everyone finds a way to make some money, or publicity, and Jack Thompson found it obviously. I think the people that blame video games for violent behavior should either apply more logic and understand that I can't really shoot a 50 caliber sniper rifle and blow someone's head off, or play some of these "violent" games while being examined by scientists. Think I am joking? If they want proof, how else would they get it?

Sylpher

Jack Thompson is a silly, silly man. Sessler, however made gamers look like a bunch of bleeding vaginas. If anything Thompson one upped Sessler in the remaining calm and cool department.

Eggie

Why are the presenters of this Tv show so loud?

PsychicHeart

Perhaps the problem lies in obscurity. I've often discussed games with my dad, and he is genuinely interested in my teenage ventures.
As a result of this, my parents have an understanding that games do not torture the soul with images of bloodshed and Chris Jones' childhood home (oh, that one's a little TOO scary  :o).
