Hey... Now there's a poem wrote in Spanish?

All aims to me again! It hasn't been me, but I can translate that, if someone is interested...
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Nacho

Y si nos hubieran visto.....
Que estabamos ahi sentados..frente a frente.
No podía faltarnos la luna.
Y hablabamos de todo un poco
y todo nos causaba risa..como dos locos
y yo que no veia la hora de tenerte en mis brazos y poderete decir te amo!!
dede el primer momento en que te vi
hace tiempo te buscaba y ya te imaginaba asi..
Te amo!!!
aunque no es tan facil de decir
y defino lo que siento con estas palabras
Te amo!!

And if they had seen us...
That we were there, sitting, face to face.
The moon couldn't lack to us
and we were talking a little bit of everything
And everything made us laugh, like two fools
And I just wasn't able to wait till the time to having you in my arms and saying "I love you!"

Since the first time I saw you
A lot of time before I was seeking you and imagining you like this
I love you!
But it's not so easy to express
And I define what I feel with this words...
I love you!

puagh!  :P
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

I would say m0ds, but he has enough problems typing correctly, I doubt  he could write a poem like that.

Dude, please... if I went for a chick on the net... I wouldn't go after an insane irish chick who lives on the other side of the world that hates me for continually saying her and a certain member of the FOY team are having some wierd sexual encounters...

I would :D

IVAN!!

Ami,

Puesto que disminuyó la luz del sol; el reinado de la oscuridad,
A sombreó la nube del negro eferente.
Donde han ido las trayectorias tales maneras del seperate,
el precio del amor tenía ataque de la muerte...

Ahora mire sobre ese horizonte lejano,
donde las memorias de toda la hora se pierden.
Puesto que han vagado los corazones de hombres de largo,
en el último sé qué amor ha costado.

Si usted ama, o desea, o lujuria,
o siempre esperanza de tener un corazón fiel;
Para usted me escribo, y escribo debo, apenas una vez...

... donde los extremos se convierten en el comienzo...

translation

Ami,

Since sunlight dwindled; darkness reign,
A shadowed cloud of efferent black.
Where paths have gone such seperate ways,
The price of love had Death attack...

Now look upon that far horizon,
Where memories of all time are lost.
Since hearts of men have wandered long,
At last I know what love has cost.

If you should love, or want, or lust,
Or ever hope to have a faithful heart;
For you I write, and write I must,
Just once...

...where endings become the start...

Mmmmm... I am Spanish... and that seems Spanish, but it's not actually the Spanish we talk in the Peninsula... I think its the Spanish talked in Argentina, or Spanish talked by a portuguese/Brasilian...

You mean Spanish isn't just Spanish?! I was under the illusion that if you could speak Spanish you could talk to EVERYONE?! wow! you learn something new everyday...

P.S I AM IVAN! I AM IVAN! I AM IVAN! I AM IVAN!

(I'm not really, I just want the attention - and I want people to think I can speak fluently in Spanish)

Almost no language on earth is homogenous.

That said, it's not like Farlander couldn't speak to someone from South America, it's just that there would be many differences, such as exist between American and Australian English, and indeed within Britain itself.
Castellano is probably closer to Iberian Spanish than, say, Scots English is to what is spoken further south in Scotland.

Yanks and Aussies aren't that different, are they? I see your point, Las, but (with my limited understanding of foreign languages) I'm assuming that there would only be very very minor differences...

I mean - American's and Australian's have different accents, sure - but it's not difficult to understand. And we spell some words differently (mum/mom, flavour/flavor), but I would have no trouble whatsoever 'deciphering' US -> AUS.

Is spanish really that different? :o :o

I want to take advantage of Mark because he is drunk.

The first poem Ami said this Ivan sent her is a song from Ricardo Montaner, a Mexican singer. He always sings all those disgustingly sweet love songs. The song is called "Te amo" (which means "I love you").

And I can't believe you can't see that the posts made by 'Ivan' in these forums are hoaxes. The second poem seems to be a real poem in English and a bad babelfishy translation of it into Spanish. I am from Uruguay and I can tell it's a grammatical mess.  It's got the words in Spanish, but doesn't make any sense.

One simple argument for saying it's originally in English: The poem in English has rhyme and sounds good. The poem in Spanish has almost no rhyme at all. That means it's just a word-by-word translation, a method that rarely leads to good results.

For example, look at this:

"...where endings become the start..."

Was translated as:

"... donde los extremos se convierten en el comienzo..."

'Extremo' means 'end' only when it's the end of a rope or something like that. The correct way to say that would be:

"... donde los fines se convierten en el comienzo ..."

And this is really weird:

"Since hearts of men have wandered long,"

Was translated as:

"Puesto que han vagado los corazones de hombres de largo,"

That's completely illogical, in English it would mean something like "Since hearts of men in long have wandered". "Men in long" as if it would be "Men dressed in long".

It should've been:
"Puesto que durante mucho han vagado los corazones de los hombres,"

The rest of the poem in Spanish makes as much sense as those lines. :P
So... that's it... no Ivan in these forums. :)
