how can i make me a board like street fighter

im trying to make a fighting game like mortal,street fighter,dragon ball z, and i want that cartoon look like dragon ball z and street fighter

1st of all how can i get that cartoon look

2nd where can i draw the boards at with what program can some one recamend to draw the background

and can i use photo shop to make the background for the boards or can i get 3d pictures from brice and turn them into 2d some how please help me  :'(

First I think you have to define what "board" means..

board as in stage I'm guessing.  These sort of questions (aside from the paint program) really can't be answered aside from: Learn how.  As for the program, there are many with varying degrees of utility and pros/cons.  The short list:

ArtGem
Dpaint II (IV being the best but you'll need WinUAE or something)
Painter
Windows Pain(t)
Pro Motion
Photoshop
GiMP
Paintshop Pro


For 2d sprites I would recommend either Pro Motion or Paintshop Pro since you'll need to animate them as well

I don't want to be an arse, specially with a newbie, but... Shouldn't you go for some kind of program like M.U.G.E.N. if you want to do a fight game?

Yeah, Pieter, I've seen quest fight, and it's cool. I know a lot of things can be done with AGS, from scrolling fighter to golf simulators...

Just that M.U.G.E.N is specifical for fight games, and maybe this mate hasn't heard of it... Just suggesting.  :)

Well cell shading is an option if he can 3d render characters. Else he should conceptualy draw then and them pixrel them to pc or scan etc. You can find tuts on net how to do this. Use google.

Look at the paint programs and find out which one your most comfy with cause your going to be working with it alot!

And then lastly you can always use the 3d program to render a single image so that it is imprtale as a bg into ags.

I really think AGS may not be the best engine for you. You don't seem to want to make adventure games, as flexible as AGS is that's what it's geared towards. I think you would be wise to reconsider.

On the other hand if you want help with artwork the critics lounge would be of great use to you. I'd suggest you study the graphics of Street Fighter and then try to produce something in the same style.

I don't think Bryce is good for character animation. The free programs Blender and Anim8or both allow you to use skeletons to deform meshes which is a boon for character animation. Blender also has an built-in 3D game engine.
