Hi
I m curious to know how big (or small  ;D ) is the french speaking community here.
don't seems to be a lot  ;)

I speak french decently well, and understand it quite a bit better (but I'm not talking about France-french, I'm talking Quebec- and Atlantic Canada-French).
A fly in the hand is worth?...

Klyptomaniac

I'm only in my third year of french in school. I'm 1 1/2 lingual.

Je suis un petit pomme de terre.
Voila... ma Francais est tres bien, non?

Hehehe... I work with a French girl at the cinema... you can imagine the difficulty she encountered when 'orton 'ears a 'oo came out not long ago.

Also, for "French" members, from the very France, I can only remember "Pétaglair", who was quite good artist and funny, but a bit too enthusiastic. He left, I wonder where he is.

Apparently, French people still has a problem with "English" as the world lenguaje in spite of French, so, they tend not to come to lot of forums in English... I am glad when they come, though...  :D

As I pointed out on my blog, there is actually a separate French-speaking AGS forum, and I think that's where most Frenchies hang out.

I speak French passably well. I am not, however, part of any French-speaking community.

I took a mandatory grade 8 French class, and passed by 1 percentage point. A fact I am not proud of, but gives me a severe case of the grins whenever I think of it. ;D

We had a French exchange student one summer ...

I can now curse fluently in French.

I can call somebody a homosexual.

I can ask "what are you doing tonight?"

I can tell somebody to go f**k their mother.

I can ask a woman to f**k me.

So yeah ... all in all I think I'm going to be very successful when I'm in Paris this August.  I can't forsee a problem.  I just hope those lovely French women are ready for me!!  But don't worry ladies, unlike most stupid Americans I don't start wars and carry guns with me.

edit to correct spelling

Yes the french AGS forum is here http://adventuregamestudio.fr-bb.com/  feel free to visit us :)

The community is very small but active. We have few games realised.

Iguess its a good beginning in every language to be able to say that, but  you forget the main sentence " I want a beer " (or whatever is your favorite drink)  ;D

That's for the men, women should learn "No thanks, I've already had breakfast".

(I can read easily enough and I write quite well, but my spoken French gets rustier by the moment. )

Akatosh

I can tell you everything about Arthur, the parrot, and Julie, Julien and Francois. That's pretty much all I remember from that blasted textbook.

Thinking about this, does it make sense that our community is segregated by having these main AGS forums, and then separate websites for the French and German speakers? Should we be providing foreign language forums here to try and provide a more inclusive community?

Lamak

Marion, Monsieur OUXX, naamlock, creamy (and I) are french members, and if I recall correctly, Dorcan (awesome artist !) speaks french...

@ Pumaguy : I think it doesn't make a lot of sense... Well, as for the french community, everybody knows that our english is terrible (not to mention the accent). So, there's an explanation. But, for swedish people, for example, I don't know.

Je parle francais, et anglais aussi  :D

Stupot, why do you say you're a potato?  ???  As for Horton Hears a Who, here they released it as just "Horton"  ;D

Now that you mention it, yes. It would make more sense, in terms of community and mailflow, to have all forums here at adventuregamestudio.co.uk, by duplicating some of the forums in French and German (I'm thinking, beginner's questions, adventure chat, and general chat, based on the activity logs on the French forum; things like "finished games" would be interesting to everybody).

Consider how silly it is that we're having a Mittens in France this summer and the French community may well be unaware of that!

Pumaman

In the past I've generally steered away from having non-English forums because of the need to moderate them, and because as I'm responsible for the site here I'd prefer to be able to understand all the content posted on it.

But if some of you multi-lingual guys would be happy to keep an eye on the foreign language forums it might make more sense to try and integrate them here?

Hehe, because I don't know the French word for 'couch'.
Where's "here"? Paris, Hong Kong or Frisco?

Silly... but blamed to who? To us, people from English countries or people from the rest of the World who makes the effort of speaking a lenguaje that commonly recognised as global, or can that be blamed to them, who stupidly still refuse to learn English like if we were still living 2 centuries ago? It annoyes me deeply, I can go almost every part of the world and understand and make me to be understood pretty well with English, except in France.

My deepest congratulations to those French mates who did the effort to look further the boarders of "La France" and speak English, though...
