I made a cartoon

Hey,

November 2007 I started on a flash cartoon. February 2009 I re-discovered it and finished it. Too much was last minute and I wish I got the time to un-motion tween the first scenes, but overall it turned out fine for a few laughs I think. Then I submitted it to a Norwegian short movie competition and here it is:

Pros: great design, nice animation, voice acting was ok, soundFX were well done, and the music was pleasant.

Cons: too much gore, disturbing humor, and really not that funny.

Recommendation: Play some Monkey Island games to help with your humor and keep trying.

As funny as MI is, I certainly wouldn't proclaim it to be the be-all-and-end-all with regards to humour. I think this is more of the 'lolwut' school of funny.

As it stands, I liked this. Animation was top notch, looked very professional, and deliciously messed up. Nicely done HB.

Like ManicMatt pointed out, rharpe, Happy Tree Friends is nothing but gore with no real humour in it and it's INSANELY popular.

Well done, but really wasn't very entertaining. Not even lolwut, that's reserved for the humor that is really awkward, like you need to cough or something - your body doesn't know what to do, because it's so unexpected or weird. But the only close to funny moment for me was the fish (I think it was a fish) in the intro. That was almost a lolwut...but then the blood shooting out of the arm moment was pretty much the norm from then on, so it wasn't really awkward anymore.

I finally got a chance to watch this!

I really like your art style and the movie overall kept me pretty entertained.
The voices although were a little amateur. Sounded like a cheap muffly mic.
I didn't find the comedy funny at all, but like I said, I was pretty entertained. That is all that matters.
I wouldn't mind watching another video. Keep making them.

Oh and the hand animations were absolutely great. From the door bell to the radio knob, etc.

Thanks! I'm amazed at how many people actually saw that. After I shaved my head the comments reduced.

Why are people trying to define "lolwut".

I don't agree. The recording quality might have been a little low on some of the characters, but I think especially Edwood's voice actor sounded almost professional.

Just for the record, I learned today I was accepted to start studying for a bachelor degree in animation this fall. I'm pretty sure this toon scored me the seat. Woo.
