Is there a limit on PM's?

I just noticed my inbox is beginning to get VERY full of messages, (250) and I was just thinking, is there a limit at all on how many you can have?

I don't think theres a limit, i have 300 messages. But Chris would appreciate we delete down to about 100 I think, cos its hogging up server space or some shiznit.

This might be the case, but times ARE changing really...

A PM has the tiny size of the very few kbs... I mean if you download all your PMs you MIGHT get 100 kbs of text. With the new servers and all that, plus a community whose/which size does remain pretty much the same, it shouldn't be too much trouble to keep your PMs. I must have 30+ pages of SENT messages (I tidy up ONLY the recevied ones).

Now, tidying up is a good thing, though, so do start deleting, there's not so much important stuff, Peder, in your PM box, is there?

There's no PM limit, though they do take up space ... currently there are 52000 PM's in the forum database, taking up 33 MB of space.

I would recommend deleting any old ones that you don't need any more, it all helps. But then I should practice what I preach really, having 1291 in my inbox at the moment :/

426... There is no Save message/savebox function on these boards, that I can find at least If there was, I would be happy to delete them all and save the most important ones.

Actually that's a good point: You can't download PMs in this forum...

EDIT: Andail I might PM you just to get you off that awful number...

And I just checked: I have 61 pages (!!!) of outbox messages but only 163 inbox ones, which I have been cleaning for a long time, and still find rather a lot...

One can delete all that don't need archiving, then go through the pages and save them.
I think Firefox can save a page as a single file, including all pictures.
A pdf export feature would still be way more practical.

It's not a lot, but it all adds to the size of the backups that I have to download/upload/copy around. It's certainly not a major worry though and not something anyone should go into a mad panic about and delete all their PM's!

Email notification doesn't work anyway. At least it didn't a few months ago, maybe it does again now?

It definitely stopped working for a while at least, I think it was the last time we switched servers. Guess it got fixed eventually though!

I have 332+300(I deleted 1 year ago)=632 inbox. As for outbox..who cares?
