This looks better than the original Xbox.  I dig the new style.

I watched a cool video about the Xbox 360 on Gamespot.  This sucker is gonna have one hell of a pricetag when it's released. (I'm assuming, since somebody had mentioned 299 american dollars in the video, but i know it will be alot more)

Video can be seen on link below

Even wireless power supply? Neat!

Yep, runs on one nine volt battery (not included)  ;D

Too bad the developers havn't even tapped the possebilities of the current generation of consoles. But I can't but drewl over the possebility of this sweetheart running Elder Scrolls 4 later. Yummie.. on the other hand, no backward compability, no purchase.

Privateer Puddin'

All 3 consoles will be backward compatible, ps3 running psx and ps2 games, xbox running 'top selling' games (is that all or will they guarantee stuff like halo2 works) and ninty revolution playing nes all the way to gamecube :D :D

2ma2

What? The NinRev actually has all slots?

Privateer Puddin'

Nope, gamecube games are backward compatible by using the original disk, while the others can be downloaded. I think i read that gamecube games may also be downloadable.

2ma2

But that is.. illegal..

*roflmao*

Esseb

The amount of money they will inevitably end up charging for one NES game? Yes.

Kweepa

Do not buy an XBox 360.
The PS3 is going to wipe the floor with the XBox 360.

As for backwards compatibility, "your favourite" (Joe Public's favourite) XBox titles will be ported, and you'll have to download an executable.

Gamecube games being downloadable is pretty unlikely, since it's about 2Gb per game. That would take days at 100k/s. Plus where would it be stored? On the 512Mb flash memory?

It'll play Gamecube games from the disc, the previous consoles' games will be downloadable.
... According to what I've read, anyway.

Yeah they will be downloadable... I'm sure Nintendo won't charge much for them if they do charge anyhting... One of the reasons they have been hesitant in going into the online market is that they don't think that users should have to pay for hte service. And yeah the Revolution will be free online, as will the Xbox 360 (although the free version is quite limited), I'm sure the PS3 is online, but I havn't heard anything else about it.

Basically microsoft is trying to market the 360 to the cool and 'hip' people who watch MTV. Nintendo on the other hand is taking a better more mature approach, imo. They seem to be more on delivering the system and great games rather than hyping it up with fancy numbers.

Heres some pics of the 3 consoles:
Revolution:
edit: Now where did my picture go... IGN... yoohoo...

I think this is the best looking console.

Playstation 3:

Worst. Controller. Ever! Although the console itself looks alright.

Xbox 360:
Well you can see the pic in the first post...

XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 just look like a bunch of mindless jerks who'll be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.  ;)

Also, I edited the first post!

... and this one, too.  :P

Although the PS3 controller looks weird, there's a very similar shaped pc gamepad which i have been told is awesome

Revolution only looks cool with that plastic basestand, but separated it looks as bland as a coaster.   And I worry I'll accidentally pull it over with my controller cable.

360 looks better than the X Box, but thats only because they've realized that symmetry creates aesthetic.  But I'm just not hearing enough about the actual device to be impressed.
And its launch games look lame.

PS3 looks aerodynamic, and that is clearly the future of game consoles.  At certain angles it looks like a silver football.   I just imagine little japanese men running into the endzone with it and spiking the ball in front of Elijah Wood and Bill Gates.

AS someone who has never owned a console, and does not even play games anymore, I like the Nin Rev.

The Revolution looks best, IMO.
The 360 comes a close second, and the PS3... Well... It looks like a printer.

I also find the contrast between the PS3 and the XBOX 360 a bit strange.
PS3 is convex, XBOX 360 is concave...

I'm also rather excited about the Revolution. I'm a bit amused by the fact that what makes me so excited about it is the ability to play OLD games on it, though.

Ghormak

I don't think I could ever buy a console.

I like playing games. In fact, I love games. With a PC I can atleast pretend that I use it do work sometimes too. If I bought a machine made purely for the sake of playing games, all hope would be lost.

(Besides, by the time I next buy a new computer, decent PCs will eat consoles for breakfast again.)

Am I the only one who thinks printers look damn sexy?

In all honesty, getting worked up over the console designs is just ridiculous.  I just realized.  It's like rooting for Hulk Hogan or Macho Man because one is more intelligent than the other.

It all comes down to the games- I could never buy a console at launch, but I am willing to bet the PS3 will make the games most appealing to me in the end.
