Well, i want to get my Nephews into the old point and click adventure games.

Unfortunatly most games appear to be made for us older folk who grew up with them.

Im looking for a few games for 5 - 7 year olds. Somthing with simple writing they can understand and puzzles that arent too hard for the kiddies.

I guess some action to keep them interested wouldnt hurt :P

Any Suggestions??

Cheers

Princess Marian series maybe?
Calsoon 2?

There's more. But can't remember ATM.

Buckethead

I haven't tried this title but from the comments it suppose to be very childfriendly.

I know that there are a few teachers in this forum who've made games for their young students. You can try those.

Search words probably include: Kids, students, teacher. things like that.

Ghost

Short but very suitable: The New Kid.

This is around the age I started playing adventure games (if not earlier) with my older brother and sister, if you're able to play the games with them, lucas and sierra stuff should be fine

You have to grow watching LazyTown (or be a /b/tard) to play it though.

In my opinion, the Humongous adventure games (designed by Ron Gilbert no less) are excellent for kids to learn the adventure genre. However, you have to play the early ones before the company was bought out by Infrogames or whatever.

Sierra also released several adventure games for kids: Pepper's Adventures In Time, Mixed Up Mother Goose and EcoQuest 1 and 2. As your nephews grow older (10 - 12), I suppose they will be able to play harder but user friendly games like Torin's Passage, Day of the Tentacle, Goblins 3 and the Monkey Island series. It's not AGS and might be harder to find but you may be interested.

Evil

I'm not sure about your nephews, but my sister and her friends play Nancy Drew all the time. They're pretty hard for young kids and they are kind of girly, but they're not violent or anything. Very mild as far as most games go.

Seconded!  The Putt-Putt games are pretty dang cute, and they don't talk down to kids.

As for independent games - with a grownup's help, your nephew might enjoy the AGS remake of King's Quest I.

Kids that age don't need special kids' games, trust me on that. I've been there, made my cousin and brother have fun with DotT and they really did enjoy it:

Well, neither of those criteria apply to me, so go figure. :)

Also, I agree that you probably don't need a specifically kid-oriented game.
I was around that age when I first played Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, and though admittedly they were a bit too difficult for me at the time, I still enjoyed them heaps.
Plus, if anyone gets stuck these days they can just find a walkthrough on the net.
I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

Well im not looking for Special games.. but games where Kids can play it and actually get somewhere.

Game where it pretty much tells you what to do at the start, otherwise a 5 year old will get bored and start playing GTA on playstation, where atleast there is action and somthing to do.

Basically, its got to keep them relitivly interested and not have too many places to get stuck, they arent my kids, so they will only get my help now and then.

DOTT is ideal actually, big colorful characters, simple yet good story line.

Unfortunatly is too hard for 5 year olds.
The play system is a littel complicated and theres definetly too many hard puzzles.

QuestForGlory also Ideal, but too dam hard for kiddies.
Fatman would be good too, but again same problem.

Pretty much all the games i played as a youngin are too dam hard...

Cino

I used to play Leisure Suit Larry when I was a child...

Fee

ya, so did i, but at about 10.

I played my first Sierra game about 85 - 86, probly Kings quest from memory. Tho i didnt really get into it.

I got into Police Quest a littel when i was about 10, then Heroes Quest got me hooked.

Maybe 6 is a littel too young, tho i figured with point and click, there would be a few good kids games :P

Ultra Magnus

I just played Nelly Cootalot, and I recommend that!

It's really cute, visually... attention-grabbing (for want of a better phrase) and well paced with a nice learning curve to the puzzles.

I think that kids would really like it.
Probably girls a bit more than boys, though. :)

Thinking about what you said:
QuoteWell, i want to get my Nephews into the old point and click adventure games.

Well, take a random adventure game, however hard it is, and put Spider-Man in it as protagonist.
Playing guaranteed. Difficulty not a problem.

Fee

lol.. been there done that. :P

I made a Custom MUGEN for them, with all their favorite heroes (one of wich was spiderman), and a few of mine :D

Ali

I'd suggest Discworld II, because the world is fun but the first game is too difficult/illogical. I'd avoid Simon the Sorceror, because the humour can be distinctly 'teenage boy', and I didn't find it that funny when I was a teenage boy.

That depends on what kind of boys they are! If they're of the weedy variety that I was/am then they might like it. It does have the word 'crap' in it, and gay leprechauns, but I think that's pretty child friendly.
