SpiderWeb SoftWare is the best thing that ever happened to RPGs.

One I remember was called "Thors Hammer" or something like that. it was a first person rpg that was infuriatingly saveneeding.

Edit: Actually, about "The Lost Vikings", I think I had it on a shareware disc, the same one as the Thors Hammer game...

Edit: WACKY WHEELS!!!!!!!!!!   that was good.

I was SOLD. With every cell and piece of hair.
Especially since demo version had a bit different storyline/locations than full version and ended just when... when...
when you actually noticed that soliders DO flank you, flush you out of cover with a grenade and pump your sorry ass full of lead when you run out. And they were so cool, cursing through comms in a crackling voice, with heavy boots and "I'm gonna f- you up" attitude.

Half-Life 1 was awesome. Still is.

ahh, it's lovely to hear the sound of head-crabs squarking. so much simpler before they brought in the fancy ones.

Wait.....When was hl Shareware?

Games like Future Conflict and Space Station Keeper are the mose AWESOME shareware games ever made. It doesn't matter much if you fail to agree with me, you will just earn a ban from this community.

Gotta love the titles CJ gave his creations.
"Cars", "Nuclear", "Space Station Keeper".

If CJ ever wrote a Tetris clone, it would be called "Descending Geometrical Shapes".

I never knew CJ had made games! :o But the downloads don't work anymore :(

I could have sworn Half Live was free at some point. I'm pretty sure I've downloaded it from steam several times. But I just checked the steam site and they are selling it for 9,99 euro now. Which is a bit of a rip off since I've brought Half life 2 for only 15 euros.

Did you know that Epic MegaGames was to publish the game as a sequel to Jill of the Jungle.
But Epic was not happy with the quality of the game :o, and published Jazz Jackrabbit instead.
The story was then changed and published by Union Logic as an original game.

Considering that Jill of the Jungle is rather low quality in and of itself (compared to everything Apogee and id were making at that time) I find that very ironic :)

A golden oldie from 21 years back: The Adventures of Captain Comic
I loved that game (and its mostly-unknown sequel, Fractured Reality). Michael Denio is probably the first successful indie game author, considering he eventually got published by Nintendo.

PC Format demo disk, probably.

He wasn't, actually, the NES version of Captain Comic was an unlicensed game, therefore had nothing to do with Nintendo :)
Still here.

Oh, that might explain its extreme suckiness (as opposed to the PC version, which was very good for its time)
