Anyone on these forums as excited as I am?  ;D What are you looking forward to the most in the coming game?

I just discovered Mass Effect 2, two months ago because of my husband harassing me to play it. He was able to goad me into it by telling me of a way of making a Riddick/Vin Diesel look-alike. As I am a HUGE Riddick (and sci-fi) fan, I played it and absolutely fell in love with the game.

I romanced Jack, the tattooed biotic convict with my male Shepard.. and it was totally worth the trouble. LOL! ^^

Ever since finishing the game, I've been scouring the net for fanfics and fanart. Since there isn't much love for Jack out there, I started drawing my own fanart. I will share my new obsession with you.  :)

Here's my Jack & Shepard tribute video I made ---> http://youtu.be/CQ8Q0npYUas

And here's a fanart I drew:

I'm not sure if my brain is ready to handle that much awesome, especially after ME2.

Exciting news, though! I didn't even know there was a new one in production. (Goes to show you how behind the times I am.)
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

I bet you will be one of the first in line to get it!  ;)

My husband has his copy pre-ordered, and I'll buy my own on release day so that we can co-op together.

Can't waaaaait!!

I was one of the suckers to romance Tali in hopes that I would see what she looks like without her space suit mask, but was trolled by the developers!

Ahhhh... Tali, and all the fanart and por... I mean se... I MEAN classy and decent art that makes her look like a fine lady! Yes, that is what I meant!

And yes, I am very excited about MassEffect3.

Valve and EA are still wrestling over rights and...well probably money. And since there's no way in hell I'm downloading Origin...I'll wait.

I've never played ME1 cause of very annoying things that were mentioned in reviews and I got to the last "level" (final showdown) in ME2 with all the sidemissions cleared up, but I just didn't have the will to continue...got a bit repetitive, even though the game some nice gameplay and story is ok.

Oh, and a very cool drawing, even though I find it kind of creepy for some reason.
I don't want the world, I just want your half

My girlfriend loves Mass Effect more than she loves me :(

I played through all of the first one, I liked the story and all but all the 'RPG' elements I thought were cack-handed, the inventory system was dull as hell, the levelling up and choosing your party was pretty much rendered redundantly the fact that most quests were about driving around shooting from a gun that never got upgraded or visiting three identical bunkers to shoot a different type of enemy you've already seen a billion times,  the sidemissions were repetitive and unrewarding, the paraphrased dialogue system was obtuse and I'd rather have just seen what Shepard (definitely a character in her own right and not a vessel for the player) had to say without dumb nuggets of I AM A RENEGADE NOW LOL! dropped into her life. So basically, I wish it was just an action game. But a much, much better action game with more than one bunker design and a lot less driving.

Buuut, I do want to see how it continues and from what I've seen of Hannah playing Mass Effect 2 it looks like they made a lot of improvements so I'll be buying the Ultimate Edition when it comes out.

Oh, and Tali is adorable.

I just had a horrible realization...

Spoiler
At the end of my Mass Effect 2 -game, TALI DIED!!! :( And Legion too! The two most awesome characters, GONE FOREVER! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Hannah thinks she cracked the formula for avoiding that if you replay: Basically you have to do her special mission first and it gives her a chance to recover from her cold

Don't blame if it doesn't work or nuffink, I'm just repeating what she told me.

I never replay a good story, the choises I made were mine and I must face the consequences.
Spoiler
I also have no idea about "curing her cold". I don't remember her catching anything during my game, I just put her in a bad position just before the final battle and she got shot and killed. A hero's death for her, and one for Legion too. It was a glorious but bittersweet ending for me, and I cannot wait to see how the third game shapes up now!

If you make the right decisions, you can save the entire crew and all of your companions.

IIRC:
Spoiler
a) get all upgrades for the Normandy
b) finish all loyalty missions
c) don't dawdle after your crew was taken / finish all side missions before getting the Reaper IFF
d) pick the right characters for the jobs during the final mission (got it right the first time, it's not that cryptic)

Can't wait for ME3, too.
I wanted to play through the first two again but after playing ME2, ME just didn't work for me anymore. 2 is great though, one of the best games I've played.

I love to roleplay in Mass Effect. I never liked Miranda so I never did her side mission. I prioritized by what felt realistic and urgent, and thus skipped a lot of optional stuff as "unimportant for the mission". As a result, my world is far from perfect, and I love it that way.  ;)

Aren't you afraid you'll miss out on important stuff in ME3 though?

Warning, Mass Effect 3 Spoiler:
Spoiler
For example, I've read in the leaked script that if Jack has died in ME2, she won't be able to protect Kahlee with a protective biotic shield in ME3, resulting in her death.

Absolutely not! I love making decisions and seeing their consequenses, good or bad. Now that I think about it I also think Garrus might have died, but I'm not entirely sure about that one. I'll have to see what happens when I load up ME3. If I make a bad call in an earlier game, I will have to deal with it. For example:

Spoiler
I was the only one of my friends who allowed the Rachni Queen live in ME1. In ME2 I got hints that they are now free and rebuilding their empire. Perhaps I will see them attack humans once more and pay the consequences? Perhaps they will side with me in the final battle? It is a decision I made and it has the potential to change everything.

Main point of these games for me is not being able to see everything, but to see what kind of story these games make FOR ME, from MY decisions. I never replay, as doing so would tarnish the unique feeling of adventure and dread as I will never know what a decision means for me or what the possible other outcomes might have been. Did I do good? Bad?

Thanks!  ;D Were you able to view the video ok? YouTube tells me it's blocked in some countries because of the song I used.  :'(

Wait.  You turned Shepard into Riddick?  Is this some kind of meme I haven't heard about?  :=

Also, Jack?  She was a psychotic bitch and, like so many of the 'new' cast, seemed rather ho-hum compared to the originals.  The whole game had that feeling, really.  Bioware has this bad habit of making each sequel less amazing than the previous, with fewer features, emptier characters, and generally a less polished experience.  Both ME2 and DA2 suffered from this (let's replace the tank with a crappy mining minigame, or yeah, let's set an entire game in one city and do some time acceleration!).

As much as I enjoyed Mass Effect 1 (and Dragon Age 1, for that matter), I have absolutely no expectations that ME 3 (or DA 3) will be worth my money.  Maybe they will surprise me, but so far, I don't think so.

WHAM

@Progz: I think the idea of the difference of characters between ME2 and ME2 was that for Shepard, things were going downhill and where in the first game you could hire friends, heroes, and overall good guys, in the second game you no longer had such a sweet situation and instead had to contend with the scum, the criminals and the psychopats, and still manage to put together a team that can save the universe. In my mind that's a pretty good arc and I can't wait to see what they do in the third game. :)
